You dont think so? Because of the teams involved or the money disparity between football and basketball.

It's going to be that, or some smaller conference.

I don't get this either. I think A&M is threating without a legitimate offer from the SEC.

Soren Petro was talking to a radio guy in the SEC this morning and the overwhelming majority of SEC fans don't want A&M, for what that's worth. Their opinion is "what's the point?"

Travel would be very very tough.

KU would probably need to hope for a soft landing in the Big 10. They're still a solid B-Ball conference. If it comes down to $$ (i.e. televisions, etc...); KU could be in some trouble.

Mens college ball just doesn't have the national appeal that football does. If KU's football program had the national strength that their BBall team does, this wouldn't even be a discussion (hell, they'd have gone with NE), but basketball just doesn't carry the weight.

I would be pretty shocked. And that isn't just MU\KU shit talking. I think there is negative chance of that happening.

Mizzou gets in the Big 10 or SEC by way of an expanded super conference arms race.
The Big East already has 16 basketball teams. They aren't expanding.

Exactly, and this is for Texas A&M, which has a lot of good things going for it simply due to its location.

This is why I can't realistically see the 16 team super conferences that everyone talks about. The conferences that actually have a good thing going are going to be very wary about bringing another dog in to eat out of their food bowl.

There are some crappy teams without history/prestige that would be dumped for ku though (south florida, depaul, etc).

Also if super conferences happen Pitt and ND will leave for greener pastures.

Conferences aren't dumping teams. If you think the Big East is dropping the Chicago and South Florida markets for Kansas, you're out of your mind.

Pac-10 would seem most likely, but that's not a great thing for them either.

I wasn't speaking to what would likely happen, but what they should probably hope for.

Things will get very scary very quickly for the local squads. It shouldn't get too spooky for Iowa St (they're essentially ****ed, might as well accept it), and it may not be quite as dire for MU as it is for KU and K-St, but it's going to be a very nervous few months for all of them.

I hate ku as much as anyone, but if you think the Big East focuses on being the elite basketball conference and would rather keep South Florida than bring in ku, I think you are nuts. Even people in Florida would rather watch ku vs. Uconn than USF vs. Uconn. Guess we'll agree to disagree.

Iowa State, KU, and KSU could join up with teams from the WAC and Mountain West, maybe even some Conf USA schools and form a viable conference.

I was thinking about this right as your post showed up. Easier said than done but you could make a pretty kick ass conference picking up the "best of" from some smaller conferences.
