We ran into this topic late Saturday night in another thread.

I personally don't like Cam at all. He's got a ton of talent, but is an absolute idiot. He can't even learn a full playbook. Newton has put up some big numbers, but they haven't translated into a lot of wins.

He is 13-19 as a starter over 2 years.

Would you give up our no. 1 pick for Cam Newton?

What he did in college is completely irrelevant at this point. Lots of shitty leaders perform well in college because of athletic ability.

In his rookie year alone, Newton had 4754 total yards, 35 TDs, and 17 INTs.

The best season by a QB in Chiefs history was 4676 yards, 27 TDs, and 17 TDs.

The worst season Newton has had in his career would be the best season by a Chiefs QB in history...and he's still only 23 ****ing years old.

Really, though, we would be better off drafting a guy who most "experts" rate as a second round talent and has a history of pouting on the sideline with that pick than getting Newton.

You're also comparing apples to oranges in terms of the NFL from Leaf's time until now. Rookie QB's can come in now, and win pretty quickly. The league has changed to make it that way.

You also moved the goalposts. You started with the fact that Newton was a leader because of what he did at Auburn, but in the NFL he has been a complete headcase diva. Then you start talking about his NFL stats. Also leaving out the fact that he has an average QB rating and completion percentage. These two things far outweigh passing yards and rushing yards.

Newton was third in yards per attempt last year. Peyton Manning had 7.99, Newton had 7.98, and Aaron Rodgers had 7.78. Only idiots give a shit about QB rating, but he was in the top half of the league there, too.

As for him being a "diva" goes, he can dress like a showgirl and smear shit on the goalposts for all I care if he gets us 4700 yards and 35 TDs with 12 INTs.
