Send the guy on a go-route every 3rd play and tell Smith that at least once per game he's to just throw the damn thing as far as he can for Conley to go up for it. Do it on 3rd down when an interception isn't much worse than a punt.

The guy's vertical and broad jump ability show just an insane amount of explosion in his legs, so does his 10 yard split. With his catch-technique, arm length and ability to track the ball, the guy really could be a plus deep-ball option as soon as this season.

"Blah blah, Alex won't throw deep, blah" - this kid is the perfect remedy for that. Moreover, with Maclin drawing the safety shade and teams likely needed to be cognizant of Kelce at all times, they would have little choice but to leave CBs on an island against Conley quite a bit.

He'll drop a few, but he'll scare the absolute piss out of teams. Maybe he works, maybe he doesn't but people that are shitting on this pick are just insanely ignorant. He's a fantastic pick.
Cool.

I would have traded up for parker, but oh well.

Get this guy the ball in the redzone. He can jump really high and use his long arms to go up and get the ball.

He's got what we hoped Baldwin would give us a few years ago. He's got elite speed, elite jumping ability, natural solid hands, experience running a lot of different routes and he's really smart.

I have such a great feeling about this pick. Plus he's a 3rd Rd pick. Dorsey has been awesome in the 3rd Rd. He's going to take Avant's job by Midseason at the very latest.

It's destiny

So he is basically a larger Donnie Avery?

That's kinda what I labeled him as soon as he was drafted.

FTR if he can stay on the field and be Donnie Avery for 4 years, we made a good pick in the mid third.

He has the natural tools that aren't coach able.

Speed
Hands catcher
Athleticism

I like our ability to develop the kids skill set

Chris Conley can actually catch the ball. No, i don't think Avery is a good comparison.

Exactly use him similar to how the Steelers used Bryant last year.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Yep, anytime a guys in the low .3's... that's elite.

And to do it at 6'2 215 is exactly what I wanted opposite Maclin, some size.

He's a faster Jordan Matthews. And his stats aren't great bc Georgia had the best RB in years on their team and gave him the ball most of the time.

If he was on a pass first team he would have been a late first/early 2nd rd guy.

Huge steal

That's a HUGE improvement over last year...
Really? Matthews? That seems off.

If anything, Matthews reminded me a lot of Strong this year. Matthews at Vandy was a guy with flypaper hands that did an amazing job of using his body to shield guys off and make catches in traffic. I didn't really like him before the 3rd round last season for that very reason. Matthews isn't as explosive as Conley but he's much more refined, a much better route runner and has elite hands. He's better than I thought he'd be, but he's still not what I would consider an explosive player.

Conley actually reminds me of a bit of a wayback player - Antonio Bryant. He's faster than Bryant but Bryant was really good at using his length and frame to get up and over guys to pick deep balls out of the air. Bryant was a headcase so he'd jake anything that wasn't a 9 route, but he had some serious ball skills. Add speed and coachability to that and you've got a solid weapon.

I can't think of a perfect comparison, really. A longer, slower Mike Wallace with a much better attitude?

I hope not. Wallace does very little well other than run deep...

Dunno' how this pick could be getting any hate. It's one of the very few we actually hit on.

I thought we did good with both our CB's and Conley...
