Alexander Douglas Smith: 2016

We wouldn't we want to roll out another Alex Smith thread?!?!? Listen, for the Clay haters, this will probably be the thread that gets him banned. He can't help himself, right? Let's go!!!

First off, as many of you know, I have been very critical of Alexander Douglas Smith. Wasn't happy with the trade, HATED the extension, and have burned him to the ground from the beginning. So ****ing sick of the retread QB's.

So, that said Alex Smith is my Daddy. I mean, I just have to own that at this point. Here's why. He's never had continuity in a system. That guy had a new offensive coordinator just about every year until Jim Harbaugh showed up. And he flashed a little bit. That said, it sure looks like San Fran traded their best QB to us in favor of some douche that's starting some thing all over the league, while riding the bench to a guy named Blaine Gabbert.

Alex is now in his 4th year of the same system and it's showing. He's getting better. Why is he my daddy now all of a sudden though? Because he proved that he's more than just a game manager. He made some ****ing incredible throws against the Chargers last week. The back shoulder Maclin throw, the Maclin throw where Jeremy was almost killed, The Spencer Ware throws. Twice he hit him downfield (like, way more than 8 yards!), and then finally the Kelce throws.

People can give Spencer Ware a lot of credit, he is deserving of it after the monster game he had. Make no mistake about it though, Alexander Douglas Smith personally put this team on his back and willed them to victory. 1 play at a time. 1 throw at a time. He's a leader, and it reflected in the locker room after that game. They trust Alex now. They trust that he has what it takes to will them to victory in any game.

Alex isn't just a game manager anymore. He's a game changer, and a leader. This team could go 6-10 this year and I'll say the same thing. He has the ability and he's proven it. Now let's see where they go with it. I'm officially a YUGE Alex fan. What do you think? I'll take your comments off air.

Completion %, QB rating against pressure, Turnover differential, rush yards...

Facts Clay wants to ignore.

But he's not Rodgers!!

Have you looked at Montana and Young's highlights and numbers?
Outside of a handful the QB competition in that decade was absolutely god awful.
I dont need you to tell me what I watched

60% was the benchmark for passing efficiency in the 90s

And he didnt need to throw for 300 yards when he had Emmitt Smith on call

Just in case you missed it, or doubt one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.

He completed SIXTY NINE PERCENT of his passes one year, in an era where that was unheard of. Where 60 percent was considered elite.

And in the playoffs, when he absolutely had to show up during those Super Bowls, he was phenomenal. He had a quarterback rating over 100 in EVERY SINGLE PLAYOFF GAME save one during three Super Bowl years.

His playoff game averages during those runs:

244 yards, 1.8 TDs, 0.44 INT.

That might not SEEM like much compared to today, but the league leaders in passing yards and passing TDs averaged 252 yards per game and 1.8 TDs per game in 1993.

So people that just look at aggregate stats and compare them to the modern era are ****ing ignorant.

Garbage-talk. The Chiefs have attained a different flavor of Marty-ball, whereby instead of running a power back up the gut and occasionally stretching the field with a dazzling pass in to a tight window or threaded down the sideline, you simply short-dump in the backfield and attempt to horizontal-hump your way to glory.
You yourself have made excuses for how "hard" it is to make a pass into coverage, and all you're doing is covering for the deficiency of a generally timid QB who won't even attempt a well-timed crossing route unless the receiver has a 1/16 acre of clear real estate.

It's vomit-inducing.

So to clarify, you are no longer a Chiefs fan, and no longer care what happens with them? all because of Smith?
And Reid. Don't forget Reid. You'll win some games with him for sure, but we all know how this ends. The "glory days" for both parties have come and gone.

The greatest hope for KC is that Dorsey survives both of them. That's a man who despite not hitting on every pick( and who does? )knows his shit forwards and backwards.

And before you post some bullshit about "well why don't you just go to another board and support that team", get this in your head:

I already have a long-term community of football reeruns to argue with, some of whom I've met in person; I don't need another.

120 yards rushing.

Held the opposing offense to 19 points, 5.1 yards per play and less than 3 yards per rush. Forced two turnovers.

ONE BIG FAT L

You know what to do, Chiefs Kingdumb.

According to the logic of the usual assclown suspects, the Chiefs are fools for not playing Foles because of the fact he scored 7 TDs in a game and that means he is totally capable of doing that on a regular basis.
