Iginla to the Kings... good for the locker room, not sure he'll help much offensively at this point though.

I was really going to start questioning Sakic if Iginla wasn't at least moved...

Armstrong just staked his job on Zach Sanford.

That seems fitting.

Moved? Technically. I'm not sure that a conditional 4th round pick is worth much, though.

He couldn't have even if he wanted to - no one would be foolish enough to take the bloated contracts of guys like Stastny, Steen, Lehtera, Bouwmeester, etc.

Remember when Todd McLellan was available? And Bruce Boudreau?

And remember when instead we hired the guy that Boudreau replaced....and then promptly turned that team into the 2nd highest scoring team in the NHL after spending 5 years scoring less than 2.5 GPG. Oh yeah, and the real prize (McLellan) has sent Edmonton absolutely roaring past the Blues in every facet of the game and organization.

****ing Armstrong is worthless.

Because Armstrong was going to fire Hitch during the middle of the POs to hire Boudreau.

Boudreau was hired before the Blues lost to the Sharks.

He could've easily had the organization reach out to him and discuss hiring him after the season was over.

Hitchcock was clearly out of ideas; they should've moved on from him 2 seasons ago and the idiocy of bringing in a coach that was nothing more then a lousier version of him was clear on its face.

It's just doing Iginla a favor... doing nothing else is concerning, unless teams were seriously low-balling for Duchene, Landeskog, etc. I like those guys and all, but they obviously need to blow it up and stockpile draft picks at this point.

Anyone else wish they'd change the format for the playoffs?

The current system is going to do a big favor to whomever emerges from the 2 weaker divisions (Pacific and Atlantic) while the two stronger teams end up destroying each other in the 2nd round.

Why not go back to the 1-8, 2-7, 3-6, 4-5 format? Or if you want to give a reward for winning a division, the weaker division winner is the 2 seed but then 3-8 are straight-up based on record.

I've wondered the same thing, but like the current format... I like several divisional rivalries. Looking at both formats, the Jackets would prefer the 1-8 seeding, but the Sens would prefer the current format. Blackhawks would benefit from the current format while the Sharks would benefit from 1-8. Not a big difference, and slightly better matchups with the current format (at least as it stands now this season).

Now:
Caps/Leafs
Canadiens/Rangers
Jackets/Pens
Sens/Bruins

1-8:
Caps/Islanders
Jackets/Bruins
Pens/Sens
Rangers/Canadiens

Now:
Caps/Pens
Canadiens/Sens

1-8:
Caps/Rangers
Jackets/Pens

Now:
Wild/Kings
Sharks/Flames
Blackhawks/Preds
Oilers/Ducks

1-8:
Wild/Kings
Blackhawks/Flames
Sharks/Preds
Oilers/Ducks

Now:
Kings (I mean, come on)/Blackhawks
Sharks/Ducks

1-8:
Kings/Blackhawks
Ducks/Sharks
