Well, actually Vietnam. But I'll make a stop in China.

It just seemed like the thing to do. I'm in Oakland now waiting as they load cargo. I'm the only passenger on a 1,000 foot ship for the next 19 days.

Since I'm the only passenger, I get the owner's cabin on the top deck. Here are a few pictures of my cabin area. I also have the use of a lounge on another floor, and I can share the crew's gym.

So if anybody needs me, I won't be around for the next few weeks as I sail my private 1,000 foot yacht across the Pacific.

I have no idea if hte link above is the actual ship Rain Man is on, though it seems to have the correct departure and destination ports. If so, and that picture it accurate, then it appears to be a bog standard container ship.

Looking at all those ships on the map I couldn't help but notice theres only 2 cargo ships anywhere near North Korea and a few close to Somalia.

If you look at Pacific weather patterns, we're working to skirt the edge of a storm system headed north toward the Aleutian Islands. It'll intercept us north of there, but the Aleutians will sap some energy from it.

If you can get enough cell signal, you can download the Kindle app and read on your phone. It's not so bad once you get used to it. Might be tough to get that all done if your signal is awful, though.

No matter what you do, that time change is going to **** with your head. Both times I came over here from the states, it took me at least a week to adjust.

that amount of marine traffic in the last four plus years and no one has pulled a bit of debris from the sea, it has to land on a beach to be found? i smell bullshit
