The MIA Heat Show Thread

LA will be dethroned. The LAC Lake Show will be dead. So it's time to create a thread to follow the new dynasty.

Going on tour starting this October.

interesting article on how it went down...cavs were worked badly by Riley, props to him:

http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index....iamis_cou.html

Quote:
Riley really put the plan into action last November. During a Cavs visit to Miami, Riley arranged a get together with Michael Jordan and James. Jordan, who was in town to do some Nike work with Wade, at the time did not own a majority of the Bobcats.

During the meeting, Riley talked to James about how more modern players should pay homage to Jordan. Riley always had led this effort, retiring Jordan's No. 23 in the rafters at AmericanAirlines Arena even though Jordan never played in Miami.

The Cavs knew about it, and while it seemed like it could be classic tampering, they decided not to make an issue of it -- mostly because the meeting technically wasn't about free agency....

...It was also made known to James that the Heat would take care of his friends the same way the Cavs did -- special treatment at the arena, changing practice and travel schedules to allow for money-making late-night parties in various cities(?), and perhaps even hiring a James associate in a high-paying position in the organization.

I find it hilarious that the one thing James is adament about is getting his dead-beat friends jobs with the teams he's on.

Why does LeBron James need special treatment for his friends? It all goes back to the one article yesterday that said James needed to be apart of something, not be something.

And this is why we get to the point that the Heat have not guaranteed anything. Wade could most definitely be limited by Kobe, one of the best defenders in the NBA. Lebron could easily be frustrated by Artest, also one of the best defenders in the game. And Bosh will get some against Gasol, but it's not a great matchup either.

But Gasol is going to gash Bosh on offense. Bynum is going to absolutely murder the Heat because they will never, ever, ever be able to afford the kind of Center they need. And I'd be shocked if Derek Fisher wasn't a Laker, which creates another issue for Miami.

And oh by the way, the Lakers can continue to rotate their bench in so that Kobe/Gasol/etc... are fresh in the 4th quarter.

I tooted my horn about the importance of depth. And I stand by it. So underrated what guys like Bruce Bowen and Ron Arest do for your basketball team, even if they're not flashy scorers like Wade or Kobe.

I love the Heat fans now who think they should have a big chest because they signed 2 players who have never deferred to anyone in their life.

Playing in the Olympics for a short period of time does not tell you anything about playing together. With 81 games, you're juggling a lot of egos that may not check themselves despite all of the positive things that come out all their traps.

I think it's hilarious that someone is laughing at the defense Kobe and Artest play. 2 of the best defenders over the last decade are getting laughed at. Not to mention players who have rings.

That's ok. Championship rings talk. And the amount of the suddently revelant Heat fans have talked over the last 3 days will provide enough time to bury them when the real bullets start flying.

Assembling 3 players, and then signing a bunch of veteran castoffs to fill out your roster is not winning shit. It's a tried and true method in the NBA. You don't just pull role players from the veteran scrap heap. Not to mention veterans that are going to have to play 30 minutes a night.

I can't stop laughing at the prospect of Big Z clogging the lanes for LeCon and Wade, or how slow his ass will be in transition defense, or the fact that he will have to guard centers in this league again because Bosh is too much of a chicken shit to play center in the NBA.

While I agree with much of what you are saying, one important point that you fail to see here is that LeBron has always wanted to defer on the court, and in fact was critisized roundly for doing that earlier in his career.

The fact is that he doesn't have that killer instinct that the truly great champions have had, and why he doesn't yet have a ring.

As talented as he is, great players want the ball when the game is on the line, and he isn't that guy.

Wade is that guy, and now he has the most talented sidekick the NBA has ever seen.

The age of Artest, Kobe, DFish will be a factor in them trying to hold younger studs like the Heat 3. We'll see how they gel on Miami, that is a bigger factor than who is gaurding them. If they put it together they will be hard to stop.

Absolutely. I added Jordan/Pippen when I saw that.

Magic and Kareem also wipe their asses with that Wade/Con combo.

What Mr. pretend Awesome and the other 2 real Heat fans there are in this nation fail to realize is that every other combo played off each other and complimented each other.

Can you read? I didn't say they were the best combo ever. Not yet, at least.

As others have pointed out, I Kareem/Magic was a more talented duo than this one, and that team was far more rounded and talented than this Heat team.

The Lakers right now are also more rounded and talented overall than this Heat team, and they still have the guy who is the best finisher, and most motivated player in the league.
