Chatter increases that Pioli could be back in Kansas City

Amazing how clueless the media is.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...n-kansas-city/

Quote:
There’s a loose rule in NFL circles that a traditional General Manager gets to hire two coaches before the G.M. ends up on the hot seat. The Bears broke from that loose standard last year, firing G.M. Jerry Angelo before the only coach Angelo ever hired was let go.

The Chiefs could go the other way this time around, giving G.M. Scott Pioli a third chance to hire a new head coach.

The prevailing rumor in league circles is that first-year coach Romeo Crennel will be replaced, but that Pioli will remain. In 2009, Pioli hired Todd Haley to coach the team. Haley was fired during his third season on the job.

No one knows for sure what owner Clark Hunt will do. He was facing unrelenting pressure from fans and local media to clean house earlier this season. The Jovan Belcher tragedy caused much of the outcry to diminish.

If Hunt keeps Pioli, his mandate will be clear: Find a quarterback. With five Pro Bowlers on a two-win team, there’s no lack of talent at other positions in Kansas City. But Matt Cassel never has matched his performance in 2008, the year he replaced Tom Brady in New England, and it’s impossible to win in this league without someone who can move the chains by flinging the pig.

The bad news for the Chiefs and Pioli is that they’re a year late to earn a top-two pick. There’s no Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III in 2013. Pioli’s best bet could be to take the best available athlete at the top of the draft, and then to make like Trent Baalke or John Schneider and find a franchise quarterback in round two or three.

If Hunt fires Pioli, the talk is that Bill Polian could become the new G.M. in Kansas City. Some suspect, however, that the Polian rumors trace to Polian himself.

Either way, a looming finish of 2-14 shows that changes are needed in Kansas City. The only question is how extensive they’ll be.

If that's true then Clark truly does not care about this franchise much. For him to choose Pioli over the fan base and the KC media is pathedic. No GM in any sport would keep his job based on the decisions he has made.

From that same article. Surely Clark is smart enough to realize this. There wouldn't even be a revolt; people would straight-up quit following the team.

If he's back, at the post season PC, I want a reporter with balls (no such thing) to just ask Pioli, what justifies his return. And ask Hunt, are you putting personal feelings ahead of the team?

This what I feared all along. Crennel will be fired and Pioli comes back. Pioli has had his tongue buried up Clark's ass. Clark is a pussy. FACT

Ok here is where I am confused with this article.

"Coach Romeo Crennel won't be as fortunate. The source said Crennel likely will be fired, although no final decision has been made on the coach's future."

So RAC will likely be fired but no decision has been made. This seems like it is written in a way where the Reporter is throwing something against the wall and either way he is right. If RAC is fired then he reported it saying he would be fired. If RAC isn't fired then he reported that the final decision wasn't made and so they retained him.

Then at the end he states the following...
"Chiefs fans were upset with Pioli throughout the regular season, staging protests at home games. We can't imagine the reaction if Chiefs owner Clark Hunt retains him. Ticket sales surely would suffer."

Again the reporter comes out and says that Pioli is going to be retained but then in the final paragraph says that he couldn't imagine the reaction and ticket sales would suffer. So again he rides the fence here and if it goes either way the Reporter looks like he got it right. If Pioli is retained he can say he got it right. If Pioli is fired the Reporter can say that he knew the reaction and ticket sales would get Pioli fired.

Is having a job as a reporter this slimy? Is it really just about how you can get hits on your page and then have a way of covering yourself in case you are wrong?

Oh and count me in the "Done" crowd if Pissholie is retained.

If I get credible news that Pioli is here to stay, the Chiefs stuff is going in a box and into storage. Every last bit of it. Sporting KC are fun to watch, cheap to see in person, and care about winning. I don't need this shit again next year.
