Just rewatched a few series with Ja'Small Charles in the backfield.

First off, I have to say I am unimpressed with what the Susanna Hoffs brought on defense last night ...

However, Ja'Small showed some power between the tackles that I was NOT expecting. And his ability to maintain contact balance at that size is ... rare. There's a lot of smoky attitude in that dinky package.

Of course, obvious good hands out of the backfield and understands the importance of pass pro as demonstrated by his willingness to build up some steam and jam his helmet into the rushers' nether regions. It all adds up to value for Wally. Very interesting player.

He looks like a real steal but a weapon type. He's too small to take a pounding year in and year out. His shelf life would be fast in the league. He is electric though and definitely should see the field this year.

Seriously - try to put yourself in that position WITHOUT a 275 lb man hanging from you and just stand up out of it like he did. I'd never seen that video but when I saw the run I said "jesus, dude's leg strength has to be unreal...."

Yup - that explains some stuff. If he can learn to run behind his pads and stay low (which he already does pretty well), he could be a damn dangerous 200-250 carry back.

Man I dunno - dude's not exactly slight; he's not McCluster out there. He's a sturdy kid.

I agree that he's not a bellcow back but I think he can lead a platoon situation at maybe 13-15 carries/gm.

What will be key is his ability to avoid direct shots; maintain his angles and keep his pad level low. He can do a lot to protect himself and stay more durable than I think we'd have initially believed.

I don't disagree, Mr. Red Dawg. Not one bit ...

On the other hand, sometimes those smaller guys seem like they're built out of andesite ... I'm thinking of Tyreek, for example ... a more compact, highly muscular, powerful frame might mean less stress on the ligaments and bones. Didn't work for DAT, but this guy looks like he's made of stone.

We'll see ... but I am definitely intrigued by this dude. Plus, I like his attitude.

For a little fella, he seems to like hammering dudes.

Man, Williams and Thomas give us two very good receivers at the RB position. With the weapons we have at WR and TE, it’s not even fair.

In most cases, I would agree with you BUT this kid will be able to take a pounding no doubt. However, to your point just because he can doesn't mean he should because this kid will be used all over the field "on almost every play as he should" which will utilize his talent even more.

In today’s nfl you probably aren’t gonna have a rb get 20-25 touches a game atleast not in the tackle box
12-14 carries and 5 catches maybe
