Reasons to hate the Denver Broncos.

Post your reasons here. I'll start.

1. They stand between us and the playoffs.

2. We play them next week.

3. They cheated the draft system and stole their franchise player, John Elway, from the Baltimore Colts.

4. That whole "Three Amigos" schtick. That was just embarrassing to real football teams.

5. The "thin air" thing. I live here. It's not a big deal. Seriously.

6. Playoffs against the Chiefs in 1997. The referees discover that the Broncos' linemen have covered themselves in an illegal foreign substance. The linemen are told to wipe themselves off (using the honor system), and no penalty is called. The Broncos pretend to wipe off the foreign substance and come back unchanged, and were not forced to use backups while the starters went in and showered to properly remove said substance.

7. Broncos fans' ludicrous takes on Hall of Fame eligibility, e.g. Louis "Two Interceptions per Year" Wright and Floyd "1 thousand yard season and a 3.9 career average" Little.

8. John Elway's penchant to try to score himself on important plays, so as to hog the spotlight.

9. Their belief that they have a legitimate rivalry with the Raiders. What's that about? The Chiefs and Raiders have duked it out for 45 years, and both teams just use the Broncos as a warmup. They're just the Chargers with a disregard for the rules.

10. They embarrass the AFC in Super Bowls. The Broncos have appeared in six Super Bowls, and have averaged giving up 34.3 points per game. Only the Bills have given up more among teams with more than 1 appearance (34.8). In their average Super Bowl appearance, the Broncos have lost by 15.2 points. Only the Bills and Vikings have been worse among teams with more than one appearance, and they're at 16.5 and 15.2.

11. Bill Romanowski. The Broncos gave a home to the dirtiest, most classless, racist, drug-using bag of steroids ever to make a dirty hit in this league. Romanowski set up his doctor to go to prison after the doctor made Romanowski rich.

12. That horrible turf that they had for years at Mile High Stadium. The Chiefs would have to play there, and there'd be clouds of dust because the field was just dirt in many places.

Okay, keep going from here. Let the hate grow. Nourish it.

Mike Anderson still does the "Mile High Salute" because he was a US Marine before he played football for the Broncos......RESPECT THAT!!!

Are we mad because The Simpsons don't talk about the ?!?! Awwwww at least you guys had a commerical back in the day.....

I did not disrespect D.T. If you look at my post I put (R.I.P.) next to his name......I was pointing out what he did!!!

It seems to me that you all have a lot of confidence in a team that hasen't done anything for years.....and talk s**t about teams who are winning.....oh THEY must have cheated because they won........oh THEY paid somebody off to win....oh THEY did this, THEY did that, THEY did the other thing......Maybe you all should talk more about what it is YOUR team is doing or NOT DOING to win and maybe YOUR team just might start doing that.....hhhhmmmmmmmm, what a concept.

Anyway this Sunday will bring yet another great Broncos vs. game no matter how much s**t talking goes on here................................................................................................ .............................................but it sure is fun!!!!!!!!!!

GO BRONCOS (Broncos 30 - 17)

PEACE!!!

Funny story for those of us who hate John Elway. I was reading an interview with Drew Carey in Stuff, Maxim or one of those mens magazines. Anyway, they asked him what celebrity was it most awkward to meet. He said something like "At the time I was thinking I can't believe I'm meeting John Elway when I've fantasized about him burning to death in a car accident." He said he was cool about it though and understood that pretty much everyone from Cleveland hated his guts.

Drew Carey's great. I think I would have the same issues if I ever run into John Elway. But then again, I doubt I'll run into him since I don't go to Pat Bowlen's house weekly to collect my 1998 paychecks.

I've also hated the "Mile High Salute". Can't anyone think of a more original routine than stealing such an important one from our proud military? And please, someone tell Mike Anderson who still does it, it really is wearing exceptionally thin in '05. Do the worm or something else.
Mike Anderson is a Marine and has earned the right to salute when and where he wants. If you want to stop him I heartily encourage you to try.

Oh yes, another reason to hate the Broncos. They have more "homers" covering them in their local media than I can stand. I listen to KC sports radio and always get a sober, balanced perspective. Sometimes ever more critical than I think is necessary. But Denver sports radio has several commentators who are hopelessly and irrationally pro-Bronco. I'm not saying they shouldn't cheer their team, but they should also work to assess honestly the team's quality. This "homer" mentality affects the mentality of the fan base there too.

Imagine that: sports radio personalities who back the local team. Weird. And this causes the local fans to be somewhat biased towards their team, maybe even to hope their team wins instead of the opponent?
The hell you say.

Well, yeah, but at some point you expect them to step back and say, "Whoa, this is the Broncos that we're backing. What the heck are we thinking?"

As a Chiefs fan living in the Denver area, I really only need one reason: The Broncos Fan Base.
