Raiders Trade for Carson Palmer

Per Rotoworld, the Raiders are close to acquiring Carson Palmer.

On my phone, so no link, but what the hell do the Raiders have left to trade?

Oakland has like 13 former first rounders on this team, they have enough of them.

The Raiders don't want to win next year, they want to win NOW!

p.s. you guys have 60+ million invested in that pocket sloth of a qb you have.
Oh for sure we know what its like to make a mistake on a QB. If anything it kind of makes us experts.

My question is this, do you really expect Carson to get back to the QB he was 6 years ago? He has been a mess the past 4 years and it wasn't all on CIN so don't play that card.

I am confused as to why having 13 former 1st round picks means anything. If they don't play like 1st rounders, how does that make up for trading 1, possibly but highly unlikely 2, first round picks? How many of those 13 play like first rounders? If even 6 of them don't then why do they some how make this trade good?

Look, if you end up rocking this year or for a couple years with Carson then so be it I guess. I would use the ends to justify the means myself. Personally, from the Carson I have watched the past 4 years, I don't think he is worth 2 3's, let alone a 1 and a 2. I guess I also don't think you guys have a finished roster and kinda need a few draft picks the next 2 years but I am sure Raider fans think this is the final piece. So be it.

Raiders fans will love this now and IMO hate it later. Time will tell.

Just because we made a huge mistake at QB doesn't mean we can't see another mistake. A guy that marrys a bitch for a wife can still tell when another guy is about to marry a bitch.

You have a first and a second, at a minimum. When you say, 'conditional'... it makes it sound like it could be a fifth. Nope.... a first AND a second....minimum.

Also, you have 7.5 million the rest of THIS year for Palmer. He has three more years on his deal after this year. And, don't you think he will be willing to hold out for a new deal after the season?

Oh, and, I care more about picks than the money. And, if Palmer plays out his remaining contract with the Raiders, he will make close to 60 million.

And, that is, of course, if they don't renegotiate the deal. (And, he won't be taking a pay cut).

Thanks for the chuckles.

Is he starting this week end? I don't see how he could possibly be ready. He hasn't played a game in nearly 10 months.

Who is being cheap now?

Also, two first round picks won't be 100 million dollars with the new rookie cap.

Leave it to the Raiders to trade two picks for an aging qb at the very time that picks are worth more than they have been in 20 years.

Great, great move.

What happens if Palmer gets hurt early on (highly possible), and then they make a run with a street free agent or trade their 2014 and 2015 first rounders for someone like Matt Moore or someone equally as bad, and then they win a playoff game? Is it a 2013 first rounder then?

Yes if he plays in 6 games and takes more than 100 snaps that means it is GUARANTEED he will be a helluva QB.

LOL

Logic fail.

The only way this works out for the Raiders is if Palmer is good long enough to pass it off the Pejorative, who also has to pan out.

Tempting.

I mean, if they are going to be 8-8 or better....then yeah, win a playoff game.

But, can you imagine the screaming if they tank the rest of the season and go 6-10 and get a top 10 pick?

They will have zero of their own picks in the draft and have to justify all the moves they made.

It would be funny to watch.

I will be rooting for them to lose at this point.... but if they look like they could make the playoffs in five weeks, then I will be pulling for them to win.

I would hate to see them go 8-8 and not make the playoffs. Then, they have middle of the road picks AND they don't have to give up a first in 2013.

Nah... I want to see them fail. 6-10 this year, and then 2-14 the following year would be fun.
