I haven't dug through the other thread in extreme detail, but it seems to me that we've got a bunch of people around here who are too damn picky. So, at the risk of crashing and burning...

I actually like eating at Red Lobster, Olive Garden, and Outback just fine. Hell, I even like Famous Dave's. They're not the best food you can ever have, but they serve a hell of a lot better fare than I'm willing to put the effort into at home, and they're not going to break the bank. So there.

(This thread doesn't have to center on chains. Those just came to mind since so many people said they didn't like it in the other thread.)

We've started to check a place called bundle.com (no affiliation)

They track credit cards and rate restaurants on

1. how many people go there as compared with other restaurants
2. how many people are repeat customers as compared with other restaurants
3. how much people spend there

It of course is limited to places that accept credit cards, but still an intriguing way to weed out online reviews from owners or competitors.

We took a short day-trip to Eureka Springs, AR a few weeks ago. It helped us find two great restaurants that we would previously never have even breathed on our brake pedal had we not been informed.

Flaws, yes, but interesting.

Interesting. I'm slowly but surely moving up the food ladder in terms of preference, but this is good stuff to keep in mind.
