Thank god. Could you imagine if our only option was a guy with zero polish and little relevant experience? Good thing Geno isn't that guy.
Cam wasn't a #1 this time 2 yrs ago, and RG3 wasn't even considered a first rounder until when? Combine? Pro day? |

RG3 was a top two lock long before the combine; the only question was whether the combine and pro day would vault him over Luck as the #1 pick.

Nope, when he won the Heisman all the talking heads were polishing his knob day in day out from January to April .

Yes for real.
And before anybody else has a heart attack, red zone TD to INT ratios are usually very lopsided. Geno's are pretty damn good. But most QB's will put up great numbers in the red zone. The 0 INT's are outstanding. But IMO it's the completion percent in the RZ that makes the difference. |

RG3 was projected as a first rounder for a long time, but I don't think he was a lock for the top 2 as someone said (although I could very well be wrong, my memory ain't what it used to be...). That came a little later, as I recall. A lot of us here were very high on him from very early on, but nationally it took longer, even with the heisman. I remember a good bit of "running QB" talk and questioning whether he could read defenses along with how well he could work under center and in the pocket. He gained steam steadily as early 2012 went on, though. I got the impression at the time that (much like with Smith) there were a lot of people talking about Griffin who really hadn't seen him play very much. Everybody talked (and still talks, in some cases) about his athletic ability, but didn't give him nearly the amount of respect he deserved as a passer. |

Mayock is very strong with his evaluations in the secondary. That's the one area that I pay attention to when he releases his rankings. He has coaches tape on those players and is a former DB, so obviously he's more familiar with it.
The Chiefs need a corner and safety on this team, so I'll be curious to see his rankings. |
