****2015 March Madness thread****

I'll probably find the time to keep daily updated brackets in the thread. In the mean time, who do you have winning it all? Kentucky a lock? Teams lose. So I don't think so. I truly believe undefeated hurts you going into The Dance.

Virginia's head coach Tony Bennett comes from Wazzu and I remember being happy the day he left even though I wondered why Virginia? Not rooting for them. I really don't know.

I expect Kansas to not make the sweet 16 potentially. Definitely not a championship contender (which would make it all the sweeter should they defy the odds).

The problem was Nigel Hayes fouled the wrong guy (and it looked like he did it inadvertently). But that's on him, not the coach.
well ...

let's see

if they throw the ball to Okafor, then fine, foul him (as long as there is about 20 seconds left in the game)

odds were, they were going to dribble the clock down to about 7 seconds and then go ... if the shot clock expired it would have put the game at about 14.5 seconds

sorry ... I'll take my shot on them chucking and missing a three and getting a rebound and being down 3 because I don't think Coach K is dumb enough to give Wisconsin a chance to put Okafor on the line

terrible coaching decision if you ask me

...and perhaps the guy wasn't even instructed to foul, which, I'm just going to have to assume was the case because if he was and they decided to put THAT guy on the line ... then good grief

Was Okafor even in the game? In any case, they're never going to throw the ball to Okafor in that situation. K isn't that stupid.

And I'm just telling you what the better play is statistically. You can believe what you want. Extending the game gives you a better shot then having Duke run clock with the best case scenario of being down 3 with very little time left, though.

Yeah, it is funny how they suddenly started fouling for the first time all year when they got ahead of Duke in the 2nd half.

Duke had no timeouts. If you want to extend the game, fine. But there should have been some ground rules. A) Don't follow that guy. B) Extend the ****ing game! Don't let 15 seconds run off the shot clock, first.

It was played HORRIBLY.

Look, they were down 3. They were 10 seconds removed from being down 8. Duke had no timeouts. They played 15 seconds off the shot clock. At that point, you get a stop. You go all out, get a stop, call a timeout. Then find a way to get Kaminsky a 3 and you have about 13 seconds to do so ... and if you get that game into OT you have ALL of the momentum.

That was the right move, regardless of what your statistics say. I have a hard time believing statistics are on your side with a 90% FT shooter, though.

Do statistics tell me to foul JJ Redick in a 1 possession game where you have 15 seconds over the shot clock if you get a stop?

I'm just curious ... why do you think the refs wanted Duke to win? Does the NCAA make more money if Duke wins over Wisconsin? I just don't get that narrative.

Now, if you want to say the refs had some sort of betting interest or monetary investment in Duke winning so they threw the game, I guess that would at least be a narrative I could understand...

but I highly doubt the officials purposely threw the game for Duke. How are the benefiting?

Well he was the one who wanted until the post-game to deal with it. Like 'all the contact', it's like the Chiefs and holding, they reciprocate and make a scene if they aren't given the same pass. So "coach" should of had his guys crashing through the lane and daring the officials to call it. And if they do, make a scene and make it part of the next day's news. Hell, prepare a tape.

I'll say again, officials are waaaaaaaay too protected.
