When Pioli and Crennel were in New England, their turning point was an injury to their starting quarterback and the emergence of a little-ballyhooed backup quarterback named Brady. Anything looking familiar here?

I want to see a full game of Quinn's Howitzer. Cassel's ducks make baby PGM cry.

Quinn did go 3/3 and his passes looked more like a real pass than any of Cassels off target slings have this year.

Dude, I'd rather find out that Quinn was just needing his opportunity to be a franchise QB than have a shitty season and draft a bust and be set back for 5 more years. All the other pieces are in place.

Furthermore, Cassel will reappear the minute he's cleared to return to the gridiron.

Stop calling him Quinn. His name is Brady. We have Brady as our quarterback now.

I agree that this is a turning point for the Chiefs organization, but it's not as complicated as people think it is.
Here is what we have accomplished this year. 1. Matt Cassel is a bad QB, not a project, not a guy who is wronged by having 5 OC's in 5 years. The evidence speaks for it self, it's time to move on. 2. Romeo is not a good head coach. I never liked the idea of giving him the HC spot because it means we are going to lose a very good DC in the process. I like Romneo as a DC, but the current situation points to an entire new coaching staff in KC next season. Sorry Romeo. 3. Scott Pioli hasn't won shit and not accomplished anything in KC. It is a good thing that the grace period with Pioli is over, he now must perform. Unlike many of you, I think it would be a bad move to toss him out on his ass. Instead, use the the outside pressure to make him fight to prove his worth. The only way for Pioli to regain his golden touch is to hire an outstanding HC and draft a franchise QB. Hiring a new GM gives that guy another three years to get his staff and team in place. With the right HC and QB, KC has a window. Now is the time for Pioli to step up and perform, not pack his bags. Brady Quinn: I'll be rooting for Quinn, but I don't think he's the answer. Even if he plays well I think the Chiefs must still draft a a QB in the 1st round. |

If, and that is a big if, Cassel is out for several weeks, ala Trent Green, then this could be the turning point in the course of the organization for the next several years. He's got one year left on his contract, he's been ineffective, and he's now becoming injury prone as well. The front office will be forced to address the QB situation for the first time in years, and maybe we finally see a Geno Smith or Matt Barkley type of pick. I'd be fine with letting a guy like that compete in training camp with a Brady Quinn type of guy for one year. Either way, I agree that this could be a turning point in the chiefs. I figure we end up with a new head coach as well.

This isn't a "turning point." This might just alter in a temporary state of playing with less turnovers because Cassel is out. In the NFL you MUST have good coaches. The Chiefs don't.
