General rule for nicknames though:

If i have to make a conscious effort to remember and say your nickname, then it's a shitty, shitty nickname because:

A. I'm never going to ****ing remember it

B. Saying your name shouldn't require effort at all

C. It probably sounds really, really ****ing stupid when used in a normal conversation.

Dexter McCluster is forever McMidget. Sorry, folks, but initials suck, even when they correspond with something cool like DMC.

And some players have cumbersome names. Not everything can be shortened to a player's initials or an abbreviated combination that rolls off the tongue.

Jamaal Charles isn't JChar. That ****ing sucks.

Sean Smith isn't SS, although you could get creative and play off of that, turning him into Schutzstaffel.

Isn't that much better now? We're not relegated to calling him Smith, which gets confused with Alex Smith. We don't have to say Sean Smith. And we don't have to creep around SS... we're coming right out and saying, "Yes, his nickname is Schutzstaffel. What are you going to do about it?"
