Wurstfest

Saturday & Sunday, March 24-25

The 39th annual Hermann Wurstfest celebrates all things sausage with samples and sales, statewide contests for amateur and professional wurstmeisters, German music and dancing and the ever-popular Wiener Dog Derby on Sunday afternoon.
How could you pass up the Wiener Dog Derby?

You just have to work a little and get off the tourist map to find the good stuff.

Not sure your budget but we do a Hermann trip every year. This has been my favorite place we stayed, but it was on the pricier side. They have rooms in the main hotel building and then a bunch of really cool different cottages up on a hill overlooking the river. We stayed in Brahm's room. Here is there website:

My wife and I used to go there annually and stay at Hermann Hill Vineyard Inn. Cottages that have nice, private outdoor hot tubs looking out over the river. Great experience. Not walking distance to wineries so somebody has to stay sober enough for short drive home. Seems like some driving is in order for most destinations anyway, though. Recommend Cottage #2 as it is a top floor.

Hermann Hill Vineyard Inn is what you´re looking for.

Pricier, but worth it.

I stayed in both the inn and the cottages and if you like rustic then Hermanhoff is great, If you want new construction made to look older then Herman Hill may work for you. I am not familiar with it what so ever.

I checked rates for Thursday and Friday nights before Memorial Day and nice rooms were $300 at both for suites, Hoff had classic rooms for $250.

Herman Hill was in the $350 with classic rooms in the $290-300 area with cottages having the same price options. I personally dislike having a Jacuzzi in the middle of my room but...

I'd go for Hermanhoff personally and depending on when you go the inn is a nice option in case of rain or snow...Either of the other places is a hike from DT as you can expect for the views.

The center circle is the Hoff Inn the circle to the left is the Hoff cottages and the circle to the right is Hermann Hill. The yellow are the routes to the center of town. For me, especially after a nice meal and a lot of wine, I like walking a few blocks to my room and taking the elevator to my room vs a 20-25 minute walk uphill.

For $125 there is a Mercantile store in a very nearby town that can be had for $125 a night that is cooler than crap. It's 49 minutes away (on foot).. 5 minutes by car. Shuttle service, upon request, is a great thing here.

On Stage
Missouri's largest B&B room (probably).
Formerly a vaudevillian theater and dance hall now converted into an interesting B&B room overlooking the Katy Trail state park. Please note that this photo was taken before we started using the room as an additional B&B room. Full sized bed and futon with additional air bed available for an additional fee. Refrigerator in the room. Private bath with large claw foot tub and shower. Private entrance and indoor bike parking. Breakfast prepared and served downstairs from locally sourced ingredients.

The Yuge room has furniture in it, really, sofa chairs, dining table, large shower and claw tub wifi

I have more pics but I will say the breakfast is awesome,
