We should have one of the top Ds within the next two years for a long, long time
Dorsey, Powe, Jackson
Houston, Johnson, Bailey, Hali
Berry, Lewis, Flowers, Carr

That is a ton of young talent.

That isn't even including guys like Studebaker, Arenas, Sheffield, or even Gilberry and Smith.

It is just what I am projecting as the starting lineup by the end of the year.

I was too young to really remember if our mid-90s defenses were that fast or not, but it does seem like we have better individual players now than we did then. Of course this is excluding DT and Neil Smith, but it never seemed like we had legitimate stars on defense. They were very opportunistic and played well as a team. Now we seem to have great individuals who also play well as a team. It should be a good defense as long as we can keep Crennel as coordinator. I think a change in scheme at this point would be very detrimental.

Mid-90s front 4 Smith/Saleumua/Phiilips/DT was unstoppable for a few years there. So much fun to watch.

Smith and DT were and probably still are, the all-time leading duo for sacks. It certainly was fun to watch. The best part was the defense rarely got embarassed by anyone. It's one thing to lose a close game, its quite another to have someone pull there starters in the 4th. I hope that doesn't happen to us again for a long time with the group we have now.

I'll say this again.

We have Herman ****ing Edwards to thank for selling the youth movement to Clark Hunt and changing the direction of this franchise.

For that, we do owe him a huge debt of gratitude.

We were never going to go anyhwere doing things the way we had been for 20 years with Carl's plan.

However, credit for the '08 draft goes to Bill Kuharich, Chuck Cook, and the rest of that scouting staff.

An NFL head coach doesn't have the time to sift through all the information and game film on draft eligible players.
