Just finished 8 pages worth of notes on the Senior Bowl

Just wanted to toss out some things, and opinions on certain guys from this game in particular. I take it for what it is. Another step in the process of evaluating these guys for the draft.

This 1 game doesn't make a difference in the 3 years or so of work they've put in at their Alma mater.

The quarterbacks were pretty disheartening to watch. Weeden looked the best, and he reminds me of a Carson Palmer with a slightly weaker arm. But I think he will be a starter for somebody in the NFL.

Russell Wilson is total shit. He can't play in the pocket, and I'm sorry, but he's just not NFL quality material.

Same goes for Ryan Lindley. A complete turd. Might make the CFL or something.

Kellen Moore is such an interesting QB to look at. He's smart. He's accurate. He's got poise, and timing on his throws. His arm strength truly is "good enough". My only concern with him is size. His height isn't a major issue to me. But his weight is something that really bothers me. With that, I would put a 3rd-4th round grade on him.

Kirk Cousins looked pretty average. He didn't do anything to impress me. Nick Foles has some potential I think. He obviously has the size you look for. He can be accurate at times, but I would like to see more zip on his passes. He's a project IMO, but someone who is worth spending the time on.

The 2 guys who stood out to me the most were Joe Adams and Alameda Ta'amu. Joe Adams reminds me of a Percy Harvin, mixed with a bit of Steve Breaston. He's a playmaker, and he can YAC it up.

Now, Alameda Ta'amu completely destroyed every lineman he faced. He was consistently pushing back Ben Jones and Vlanchos. The guy can play Nose, but I actually feel like his ultimate potential would be wasted in our system. He needs to be a 1 gapping Nose. But like I said, he would work in a 2 gap also. He was phenomenal in this game.

Coples was just a freaking monster, but I didn't really care so much since he wouldn't fit at all in the Chiefs system.

The receivers left a lot to be questioned. Drops from A.J. Jenkins, Marvin McNutt, and Posey. I wanted to see Quick do a better job of fighting for that 1st down, but he's a sleeper IMO.

Zebrie Sanders was inconsistent. At the beginning of the game he was holding his own. Looked decent in the run game. But as the game progressed he was getting beat by everyone it seemed. Curry, Coples, and Upshaw even. I wanted to like him, but it was difficult to do so.

Michael Egnew can be an in-line TE. Yeah, so maybe I'm a Mizzou homer. But he's a great physical specimen, and he really did a great job in the run blocking department for a guy who was never asked to do that at Mizzou. He's a reach-blocker though, so of course he could use some refinement.

Couldn't evaluate the corners or safeties really either due to some of the rules. Brandon Taylor is a guy to keep an eye on, and Josh Norman is another one.

As for the linebackers, Bobby Wagner was all over the field. He has great range, and he's great in coverage. Could definitely be on the field in a nickel situation. Nigel Bradham had more sideline to sideline speed than I imagined. He can cover ground. Not a fan of Zach Brown so much. He tried to be flashy. His attitude wasn't impressive, but this game left a lot of question marks on him. Still need to see more of him.

And on a final note, Pead looks legit. He's gonna be a solid player in the NFL. Vic Ballard was alright, but nothing special stood out. All the other running backs looked lost.

Well that's my quick overview on the Senior Bowl. Still a lot left to learn about some of these guys. Can't wait for the combine now.

He could possibly play for a WCO, but he can't throw it outside the numbers very often.
That is true. But he makes up for his lack of arm strength by having terrific ball placement, and timing on his throws. So maybe his arm can't beat the safety coming across the field, but his brain allows him to be able to make the throw at the right time to still beat that safety coming across the field.

You know, maybe he's another Chad Pennington type. Extremely smart. Fairly accurate. But lacks a great arm. Chad was serviceable for a while.

Yeah this QB class is pretty weak after Luck and Griffin. I'll have a hard time getting real excited even if we draft one of the remaining QB's after those two. For me it's all about finding a way to trade up and get Griffin. If Pioli did that, it would be like a re-birth of his era.

All reports compare his ARM STRENGTH to Tyler Palko... Mayock I believe, correctly retorts that he compensates by getting the ball out quickly, accurately and has great anticipation.

Those are the qualities that draw the comparisons to Brees.

People over exaggerate Brees' lack of arm when he came out of school.

Moore can't throw all the passes needed in the NFL. D's don't have to defend the entire field against him. He's Palko with better decision making. Free agent 3rd QB in a west coast offense.
