Changing the headlamps in a car is one of the few mechanic tasks I can do, so when I went to test drive a new Malibu that is something I look for. After the test drive, I pop the hood. No access to the headlamp. The salesman is clueless but suggests we drive it over to the service department and ask them. We asked 3 different mechanics in the service Depot, and even while looking at the car, not one could make more than a guess. We ended up consulting their computer.
It ended up you were going to have to take off the front grill just to gain access, then slide out the lamp like above. Freaking ridiculous. |

I remember how easy it was to do minor crap like this to my '85 Cutlass. That was last car I owned that I would actually work on myself. I couldn't even find the ****ing battery in my '05 Mustang.

My mother has a Dodge Intrepid. And she had a water pump go out recently. I thought I could replace it for her. Holy shit no... You practically had to remove the entire front clip to get to the damn thing... radiator, fan, bumper, everything. I couldn't believe it...

Then, it will cost Dodge about $150 / hour to employ said moron. Then Dodge will file for bankruptsy, get a bail out, and carry on as usual...Perfect!

My Toyota is super easy to work on(simple maintenance). From compartments to change bulbs to having the oil filter on the top. No longer do I have to get under the car, contort my arm in an S -shape, to get the oil filter.

One day I was looking around under the hood, confused because it is all covered in plastic, but I realized there was no battery (trying to jump a friends car). There are "posts" marked for you to use when jumping or charging, but no battery. Found the ****ing thing a few months later in the back of the car under the removable plastic tub-thing and above the spare tire... crazy bastards... at least I can get to that myself.
