Just wondering. Yes, no, stag, date, whatever. Tell me about your senior prom experience.

I didn't go. I didn't know how to dance, didn't know how to learn how to dance, didn't have a girlfriend, didn't have the money for a tux and corsage, didn't have any social skills, didn't drink, and lived in a small town where an 18 year-old couldn't secretly buy condoms. Other than that, I would've gone.

my school was pretty small. junior/senior prom was together.
went sophmore year-neighbor girl w/hot bod and pimples asked me...mom made me go.

junior year-took the girl i married
senior year-same as above
year after graduation-same as above(didn't want to go)

didn't go. spent that night drinking beer and having a juge popcorn fight at a movie theater a buddy of mine managed. cant remember the movie though.

I had a crush on a particular girl and pledged to myself my sophomore year that I would ask her to the prom in our senior year. However, I was afraid to talk to her and I pretty much ignored her because I didn't want her to think I liked her, which could lead to rejection. By the time our senior year had progressed to prom, I thought it might be awkward if I suddenly came up and asked her to the prom after six years of being that guy 30 feet away laughing with my group of friends and making furtive glances toward her. So she went with someone else and I worked that night at the Sirloin Stockade, but I like to think that she went and had a good time, yet secretly liked me and thought about me that night, wishing it was me instead of that other guy.

nowadays, don't they lock all the students up somwhere for a party where they can't really "party"?

hell, back in the 70's we were pretty much expected to spike the punch. school board members getting shitfaced and trying to do the funky chicken to "stairway to heaven".

This for me too. I dated the same girl through high school (thank God we broke up right afterward) and she drug me to my prom my junior year. The dinner beforehand was good but everything else was pretty much a disaster.

It must have made an impression because we didn't go to either of her proms (she went to a different school) or my senior year.

I honestly can't remember.

And that freaks me out a bit.

Maybe I really was transported here from another dimension like my mom told me. Either that or time has eroded too many brain cells including the ones that were active during prom time all those decades ago.......
