Peter King SI, A couple of nuggets about DT and the Hall....
Taken out of his MMQB column...after he slurps all over Mannings nuts of course.....LOL
12. Kansas City (9-8). Derrick Thomas has a tough road to Canton, I believe. His presenter, Bob Gretz, does a terrific job stating Thomas' case, but my feeling is that more than a few people in the room think he was a one-dimensional player. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...er.bowl/2.html 4. I think there was a lot of good, and some bad, in Saturday's Hall of Fame elections in Miami Beach. First, there were 17 men up for election, and, as one of 40 selectors, I favored 14 for entry. The only ones I did not support were Ray Guy (not a singular punter in my opinion, despite his legend), Derrick Thomas (too one-dimensional for my tastes), and Andre Reed (a good player who benefited from a great offense with a great triggerman in Jim Kelly). http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...er.bowl/5.html This pisses me off. I honestly dont think an "East Coast" guy like King really saw enough of DT play to make a fair judgement on him. Nice... |

It's an absurd premise, Mr. Braincase.
Good god, was Stenerud one-dimensional? Or does he get extra points for kickoffs? FAX |

Peter King has been one of the most outspoken AGAINST Art Monk until this year. Now he's changing his tune, and Monk's getting jobbed? Make up your mind, Peter. Monk is either a HOF'er or he's not. Douchenozzle. |

Derrick Thomas was too one-dimensional, but watch King line up to slurp Deion Sanders' knob when it's time to vote him in.

I don't have the stats to back it up, but IIRC, DT improved a lot against the run in the latter half of his career.
Gonzo hasn't a good blocker the first half of this career, and dropped a lot of passes his first year or two. But he's pretty much a lock for first-ballot HOF. I totally agree on the Deion Sanders comment. |

I get a little angry thinking about Peter King wandering around the room putting a bug in everyone's ear saying things like, "Yeah, Thomas was good but a little one-dimensional, don't you think?" |

DT had well over 100 sacks in 10 years. He will make it. His one INT will hurt but he was used alot as a 3rd down pass rusher so of course int's were not his calling card.
Many times he was a game changer.

King is a walking, talking, flying piece of bat crap.
How anyone can listen or watch and believe the son of Eddie Munster spew his vomit is beyond me. Costas and HBO should be ashamed of themselves.

I don't want to hear anything about Merriman if DT's going to get labeled(and subsequently penalized) as a one-dimensional player.

Focking stooopid.
Line up DT in his prime next to any defender in today's game. Now, who would you rather have over DT? ....................................... ..................................... ....................................... ....................................... Exactly, now get his ass into the HOF. He was the best at his position over a decade. This BS about being one-dimensional is complete crap.

This one dimensional crap is reeruned.
Harry Carson made it last year with EIGHT career sacks. Does that make him a one-dimensional run stuffer? Fact is, DT has two things going against him: 1) He never won a ring. 2) He's not alive to bitch and moan like some of these guys do. He's gonna continue to get passed over until there's a class without some of these borderline old timers like Hickerson and Sanders...... |

I'm starting to feel that every year that goes by, his chances get slimmer and slimmer.

if your wanna flog your wang over athletes who've got multiple dimensions then i don't think american football is what you should be watching. is there another pro sport which requires greater specialisation? go watch decathlon race or somthing
