ESPN radio said Houston had interest. About an hour ago. Said Moats and Slaton weren't getting it done.

No takers for Larry Johnson

Posted by Mike Florio on November 10, 2009 5:13 PM ET
Because the Chiefs released running back Larry Johnson after the trade deadline, he was required to pass through waivers, giving every other team a shot at picking up his current contract.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that no one submitted a claim for Johnson's contract.

As a result, he now becomes an unrestricted free agent.

He is entitled, if he so chooses, to collect the balance of his $4.55 million base salary as termination pay. (He'll likely choose to take the money, especially since he won't be required to refund any of it if he lands with a new team.)

So now the question becomes whether anyone else gives him an opportunity and, if so, whether the contractual terms entail anything more than the minimum base salary for a seventh-year player.

We've been told to keep and eye on the Patriots, who have been evasive regarding their potential interest in Johnson.

Actually, Belichick said the other day when asked that they were not going to be interested. The quote is out there if this pseudo-authority Florio wants to do his homework

John Clayton said 9 or so teams were tossing around the idea of picking him up as a FA. I was rather surprised.

Well his 44 posts in 8 years would indicate that he isn't a saavy, frequent message board poster... not a big deal to me.

Him not getting claimed means he will be low balled in his offers.

I wonder if he signs more than a 1 year vet minimum deal...should get interesting.

I bet he ends in Houston or NE when its all said and done, on a 1 year deal (basically a half season job interview)

Maybe only because I was wondering the same, but the "?" at the end made the OP make sense to me.

well, you have more green than you did before this topic started, so it would seem you made out like LJ did with the "misleading thread title".

texans, pats, bears and redskins show interest in LJ per scrolling NFLN.

If the rdskins wanted him, they should have claimed him and paid his contract, IMHO no way he signs on another losing team.
