King of Hearts.
Funniest movie I've ever seen. You actually need an education and an understanding of history to see its brilliance. |

The movie I laughed the hardest at the theater - There's Something About Mary.
The movie I laughed hardest at home - Noises Off!! I'm generally an appreciator of comedy more than a laugher, kind of a gentle snort and nod of admiration, but those two stand out to me as absolutely dragging peals of laughter out of me.

Airplane, Top Secret and Naked Gun still make me laugh.
The Zuckers were great

I'd like some insight on how many people have seen Noises Off!
Really a great movie, that needs to be seen as a whole with full attention to get how the humor builds, not in a cerebral way, but in a madcap adventure with a ton of moving parts. It's based on a play, that is supposed to show a play being put on. They start with the dress rehearsal to set up the ins and outs of the very intricate plot. Then you get some insight into the characters and their affairs and foibles and such. Then they go into a disastrous live performance where everything on earth goes wrong from timing to grudges, to drunkeness to pratfalls, lots of pratfalls. Filled with stars as well

Oh, I'm also an 'Ishtar' lover. I'll defend that movie to my grave.

Not the movies as a whole, although Rat Race and Life of Brian are two of the funniest I can recall. There's one scene from each that made me laugh so hard and so much that I couldn't get my breath. People were actually concerned that I was gonna pass out.
I'm not sure why...the similarity between the two is the unexpectedness of the scene, I guess. |

This is a great question. A lot of the movies that I think are the best comedies aren't necessarily the ones with the most laughs.
Some movies that really provide laughs throughout for me are, in no particular order, Raising Arizona A Fish Called Wanda The Life of Brian The Jerk (but I'm not sure how well it's aged; haven't seen it in a couple of decades) Young Frankenstein Galaxy Quest Napoleon Dynamite There's an old Buster Keaton movie called The General that shocked me in how funny a silent movie could be. It deserves mention. There are movies that aren't on this list that I think are better comedies, but they're not ha-ha funny through the whole movie.
