Tiger's 1st and 4th round were very unimpressive. His 2nd and 3rd round were spectaular.

Who would have thought that tiger would have choked (I use that term because everytime tiger came from behind people would say that) a 2 stroke lead with 2 to play.

Conversely Dimarco had one really bad nine holes. Hehe ... people were saying he choked before the final round.

Great theater displayed, Tiger won props to him. Nailed the 15-18 foot putt in Sudden death.

But can you imagin the talk if Dimarco's chip goes in on 18 in regulation. How that ball didn't check up and go in is beyond me.

That chip in on 16 was actually not that uncommon. In the last 5-6 years 2-3 other people have done that--MOF Mickelson had the same shot last year and missed it by less than an inch. The Sunday pin is in the low portion of that green and if you hit the middle of that green, the ball will funnel down to the hole. It's actually an easier pin position than the 3rd round when the pin is at the of the hill.

Tiger's hype is beyond ridiculous, but he is clutch...he's made more clutch shots than any other that I can remember.

I was actually going to mention that. Everything that landed behind the flag on 16 almost went in. There were a ton of tee shots that just missed the hole, and there had even been a hole in one a few groups earlier.

I didn't mean to sound like you shouldn't have an opinion. I was truely curious about your skill level. I'm an admitted cup half full homer. You are right, Tiger's back 9 performance was well below what he's capable of. So in that regard, it was unimpressive. But I still think it was impressive the way he hung on and did what was necessary to win. And that chip on 16 was not all luck. It required skill and hours and hours of practice to read the putt as well as get the ball to land on the right spot for the shot to at least come close and the speed was perfect.

Hey I got to give Tiger his props on this shot, just because of the lie he had up against the collar of the second cut. To get the ball to check off that lie is extremely difficult. If the ball doesn't check up the ball end up no where near the hole, i.e. Dimarco chip on 18 in regulation if his ball checks it is in the hole and more than likely wins the Masters.

The funny thing was Dimarco was @ -8 and Tiger was @ +2 on Saturday morning, from that point on Dimarco was -4 on the last 2 days and Tiger was -15 (including the playoff hole). Tiger might have choked in the end, but I dont know about you, but playing 48 holes in 2 days (28 on sunday) might have something to do with it...

That's fine...it's just an easier shot as Ive seen it done with regularity. I think my problem with it is that shot might actually overshadow the biggest shot which was his putt on 18 on the playoff hole to win it. He fired it at the hole, had that missed that ball is 6-8 ft past the hole--alas, it wasnt as dramatic as the ball inching up to the edge, stopping, and then rolling at least half a revolution before it fell in so that will be the 'highlight' of the tourney in the future.

I guess had I said that, then you would have had a point. I was more referring to the headlines and commentary about 'all being right with the golf world again'...that's nonsense.

Tiger's the most hyped golfer ever. Is he over hyped? He's the one who has figure out which Green Jacket to wear to dinner. IMO what DiMarco did in his final 18 was more impressive. He was out muscled, out hyped and coming off a 41 on the back 9 of the rain delayed 3rd round. He sacked up and dueled with golfs golden boy and out played him. What really cost DiMarco the tournement was not making his birdie putts on the front 9. Ball striking wise he was far superior to Woods but you gotta make those fairly short birdie putts........My hats off to the guy none the less.

that was awesome.
I think I drank a six pack between holes 12-18.

Huge putt by DiMarco on 12 I believe;
then the insane chip in from the rough fringe by Tiger.
Dang.

Surprised DiMarco layed up with the near identical shot on 18, to have the ball roll back down off the green again.

that's one of the best Masters I've seen in recent memory. (although Phil last year was cool)

Just reading the first page of posts, I am amazed that people are talking shit about Tiger getting beat on the back 9 on Sunday.

He played 72 holes, like everyone else who made the cut. After 72 holes, 1 person was tied with him. After 73 holes, his score was lower.

F anything else. His score was lower. LOWER. Nothing else matters. I don't think there is a slot on the scorecard for marking good shots or bad shots, just the damn score for that hole.
