Just how many times do they use the word fuck in "Deadwood?"

fuck seems to be one of the more popular words used in Deadwood. Oh sure, theres the occasional c*cksucker reference but fuck is far more popular. Ever wonder how often it's uttered? Here's the answer. Someone had a lot of time on their hands to figure this one out.

I can't remember where I saw it, but IIRC the word "fuck" goes back (at least) to the 1600s.

And yes, they used foul language early and often back then.

sorry, that word seems to have a very long history in england and in america, even before the time of john wayne...

it just wasn't allowed in movies at that time, more or less (does the word censor have any meaning to you?)...

but people were saying it way before then, and it's not farfetched to think that people in deadwood spoke that way...

of course, i wouldn't know...

i wasn't born until 10 or fifteen years after the black hills gold rush days...

The earliest appearance of the current spelling was in 1535 -- "Bischops ... may **** thair fill and be vnmaryit" [Sir David Lyndesay, "Ane Satyre of the Thrie Estaits"].

Bob Dole can guaran-****ing-tee you it was common slang back in the 1800's. It's just not well documented because people were a lot more ****ing concerned with being polite back then.
