The '98-99 Chiefs offense revealed a pattern:
Here's the pattern: The Chiefs maulball their way to a fair beginning, then opposing defenses scheme to stop the run. Next, the Chiefs go on a losing streak: 6 games in '98 and 4 games in '99. After this, the HC turns to Jimmy Raye and says, "what else have we got?" to which JR resplies, "a healthy balance of passing and rushing the football." Then the Chiefs go on a torrid offensive tear for the final 6-8 games (last two years: avg 360+ yds total offense, 26+ ppg). Here's hope: We started out 0-2 and maybe that's as much of a losing streak as we need to open it up. I know defending Jimmy Raye is very unpopular, but when he is allowed to open things up, the Chiefs offense cooks. And the palyers themselves have all but said in the media that we need to OPEN up the offense. KCJ Hoping that 2 is as much a losing streak as we need this year.... <P> |

Hey John Que pasa? Are you still down in Georgia at Jump School? I see you finally made it over to this board. Welcome!! Left the other one when it became to politicized and leftwing orientated. As to your question reguarding JR the reason I see that they haven't opened up th offense is because of the O line IMO. With or without Szott their not blowing anyone out yet!

The Chiefs SHOULD be 1-2 this time tomorrow. The Bolts are a strong defensive team and could give the Chiefs a fit. I doubt the Chiefs will be able to run the ball against them. Warrior 5: All American 82nd (325th AIR). |

If the Chiefs lose the game tomorrow, Gunther needs to get the axe! I agree with you John. Except for the offensive tear prediction. Our offense may improve and become adequate.
But once again, we will go as far as our defense and special teams takes us. I don't think a Gunther coached team is capable of running any type of aggressive offense. And we do not have the talent to run the ball down teams throats. Let's hope we can get Gonzo going tomorrow!!! |
