These things are illegal in my state. Not directly, but it is illegal to have a car running, unattended, even in your yard/driveway.
It's also illegal to idle your car for more than a minute (though that might just be a Spokane County law), which is funny, since there are quite a few lights in Spokane that are longer than that. |

I have one but it's not smart enough to wait for the glowplugs to heat up so it's a complete waste in the winter for me.

Mine came with it, and has a setting where it'll run the defrost without it having to be set to defrost (maybe this isn't a new thing?). It warms up quickly, and it's been really mild this winter, so I don't use it much... when I get off work, my car is one of only a few in the garage, so I'll turn it on before I get to it. Even though I have to press the lock button before the remote start button to get it to start, and the fact that you have to have the key in the ignition, I've never been one to leave my car while it's running, so I'm still somewhat paranoid about it.
