My opinion of this is.....if he's back before November I'll be really surprised. I don't think they'll rush this at all with it being a head injury.

Bob Dole is going to unstick the thread since our users either can't read or are more concerned with starting their own new threads than making information on Trent's status easy to locate.

Q&A UPDATE ON QB TRENT GREEN'S CONDITION
Sep 11, 2006, 3:08:21 PM

CARL PETERSON: “I was with Trent Green at the hospital this morning. He’s feeling much better, but he has a very king-sized headache and they’ve decided that based on the concussion they want to keep him there today and tonight. It’s their hope that he’ll be able to go home tomorrow. I think the obvious is he’s extremely questionable for this week and probably out. But he is feeling better and thank goodness he had no problems with his limbs and did remember every play up to the one he got knocked out in.

“It will be a day-to-day and week-to-week evaluation by the doctors and that’s how we’re going to treat it.”

Q: Are you going to go out and look for a quarterback?

PETERSON: “No, not at this point. We have three quarterbacks under contract with us right now. We certainly think that Damon Huard is capable of winning football games for us and performed actually pretty darn well if you look at his stats from Sunday. Then we have the young Brodie Croyle behind him and Casey Printers on our practice squad.. At this point we’re not in the market looking for additional quarterbacks. We’re anticipating that Trent will get through this and get well and be back with us. But at the point I wouldn’t put any time limit on it.”

Q: The early bye date looked bad when it came out but now it might work to your advantage don’t you think?

PETERSON: “I definitely think that is true. It gives us another week for Trent to get better and it won’t be too long after that. But at this point it’s too early to make any prognosis on his return.”

Q: Did you rule him for this week then?

PETERSON: “No, but I think I said he’s very questionable. He’ll be listed as questionable for this week and as the week and weeks progress we’ll see where that is. But it was a very severe concussion.”

Q: Is there any reason to think that he won’t be back?

PETERSON: “No, I don’t have any reason. These things take time and you have to observe all aspects of a head injury and you’re always concerned.”

“I think the quarterback was trying to slide as he is instructed to do. The minute he starts that every defensive player is supposed to back off any type of hitting. It was a hit that Trent Green and the Kansas City Chiefs are paying a price for. I think you saw later in our game that Greg Wesley had an opportunity to do a similar thing with Carson Palmer but when he went down he did an acrobatic flip to avoid him.”

Q: How important has Trent Green’s contribution been to this team the last five years?

PETERSON:: “Any time you lose a pro bowl quarterback – and that’s what he’s been – who’s had great quarterback ratings and a lot of passing yardage over the years and five consecutive years of starts, you never want to lose that guy. But we do think that Damon Huard is a qualified backup; he’s been with us and been in this system now for four years and we’re happy that we’ve got him. But it will be difficult to replace someone of Trent Green’s abilities.”

Q: Is there enough known at this point to even draw up a best case scenario when he might be back?

PETERSON: “No, at this point, no. I don’t think our neurologist and team doctors are at that point. They want to continue to monitor and, like I said, it was a very severe concussion. I think everybody who saw it saw the back of his head bounce on the grass.”

Q: When he goes home tomorrow will it be to rest?

PETERSON: “Yeah, and right now they’re doing all they can to help him get rid of one massive headache. I was with in the hospital this morning and although he was certainly awake and alert and wanted to talk about the football game, he had a headache that was like a migraine. That’s the first thing to get taken care of. Beyond that, I don’t want to comment because I don’t know.”

Q: From the rest of the team, has it shaken their psyche?

PETERSON: “It certainly tests your football team. Whether it puts more of a test on the defense or the offense I don’t know at this particular point. But there’s no question this will test this football team because Trent Green has been a tremendous leader for us both on and off the field. Personally, I was frankly pleased with Damon Huard’s performance and we have confidence in him, but no one’s going to step into Trent Green’s shoes and carry on at that level. We’ll have to do some adjusting.”

I did notice Wesley acrobating his way out of Palmers.

Didn't Geathers celebrate after hitting Trent on that FIRST DOWN RUN?

Yes, he did celebrate, as did many bungholes soon afterward. They thought it was funny. In my opinion they are now in the same catagory as the Faiders and the Donks in terms of unsportsmanlike conduct and no class whatsoever.

It looked like it, but it might have been because he forced the ball out, even though it was not a fumble. But, since I think it was a dirty play from the get go, I don't want to give the asshole the benefit of the doubt.

It's good to hear that he's doing ok after the 1st 24 hrs. It can take a couple days for the threat of swelling and pressure on the brain goes away. I've had a few friends go through the same type of injury over the years and it's not pretty at all. One of them was reduced from a pretty intelligent guy into a babbling idiot for a few months, his brain swelled up in day 2 and they had to drill a hole in his skull to release pressure. I really don't care when/if Trent comes back to the football field, just want him to be ok.

I know that some people might think it's classy that Wesley and the rest of the Chiefs didn't go after the Bengals but I'm extremely upset that they can all be such pussies and not do a damn thing. I can promise you that if I was on that field and saw him cheap shot my QB and then all the bastards laughing about it somebody would have had something very bad happen to them. My lord, I've played very competitive softball for 12 years now and I don't know how many times we've went after pitchers because of what another team has done. I'm not saying it's morally right and yes you could kill someone doing that but I've always thought that it was an unwritten rule of organized sports. Accidents happen, but that was no accident. EYE FOR A FREAKIN' EYE! I know this has been discussed on other threads already but I just had to get my two cents in. I'm just really disapointed in our guys. Seems like they're soft.

Just for Bob Dole, I'll post in the "Official" thread.

Latest word is that Trent is feeling much better. Hasn't had any pain medication since yesterday and will be headed home soon. Still nothing on any sort of time table, AFAIK.

This is right on the money. Frankly, we can hope that there is no news for a couple of days, because any new news on his condition would mean that it got worse.
