... the poor man had a serious stroke, and it's been a year, and he still slurs his speech terribly. Isn't there a way to go out gracefully? Admit that the broadcasting career is over? That some traditions have to end -- and should end before the body assumes room temperature?

Okay, I saw the same thing. It was way uncomfortable. But I'm going to put a different spin on it.

He had a stroke, he knows he's way off his game. But it's what he does. He goes out and does the best he can.

How many people here, after they have suffered a massive stroke, would be able to catch up in the count down the way he did. The guy is a professional. He goes out and does his job, no matter what.

Dick Clark can keep counting them down, as long as long as he's kicking, as far as I'm concerned.

There was a time when I would have looked good in speedos. That doesn't mean I'm going to throw on a pair and head for the beach for old times' sake.

My point is that age and other factors take their toll on all of us. Dick quite simply has no business speaking in public or on the air. Period. Watching him was both painful and embarrassing.

I think it is great he is still doing it despite his obvious disability. Clark is a Legend, and you guys should have some respect and not make fun of someone old that has had a stroke.

Consider that pain and embarrassment a small glimpse into what awaits us all, if we are so lucky to live such a long life. He isn't driving a car, operating construction machinery, or QBing an NFL team. No harm, no foul. They even let Pat Summerall broadcast an NFL game this year. Hell, if you want something relevant to the under 25 crowd that they show on camera, he should have been sent out to pasture 30 years ago.

I just watched him a couple of hours back. It is pretty sad. He needs to not do this anymore. It is the end of a great tradition. Dude stayed young for a long time, but its tough to watch now.
