Is anyone listening to the Royals game?

I see that Sportsline has them down 2-1.

German should be the starter over Berroa, even if German's range is not good enough, his offensive output is sure as hell alot better than Berroa as of this point.

I imagine that's what they are thinking as well, and they want him to get as much practice at SS this spring to see if he can at least split time with Berroa.

as weak as Berroa is, you can't just go for offense and neglect defense all around

No my fault your organization was stupid enough to rush him to the majors.

Rick Peterson has already changed where he pitches on the mound which is definitely helping his location.

You can't blame them for wanting him, though. Twenty-two years old and a 100-mph fastball. Wow. Omar Minaya said: “Burgos saved 18 games last season. That’s all I needed to see.” Yeah Omar, but you probably needed to see that that was out of 30 opportunities.

He might develop into something, but I'd say it's at 40-60, at this point.

They're not really neglecting defense all around in my view. Both of the corners appears to be pretty sharp. The way I see it:

Berroa can't contribute to anything on offense AND defense. German can't contribute to defense, BUT can contribute on offense.

So I see that Berroa has 2 negatives and no positive, and German has one negative and one positive.

I think that starting German is the right choice to do, and for the long run of the franchise, IMHO. His defense will come around, eventually. It won't happen overnight, but it'll come one day.

Or do what Oakland does: Draft well so you have another young stud ready to take his place when he bolts in free agency.
