screwed up priorities.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,26604,00.html

First, I'm not saying that it was a good thing that the dog died, or that this guy is an angel.

The guy could get three years in jail for throwing a dog 5'....If I really threw a small dog that bit me, I think It would go 105'......sounds like he tossed it, and it ran into traffic.

The lady got on Oprah for this? and the public raised $120,000 to find the guy????good lord. maybe he should use the "abortion defense"...the dog bit him, and was an "inconvenience" and small lap dogs can't support themselves.

~can think of alot more important things to use $120,000 than a friggin dead dog....

Big Daddy

I'm not for a second saying this guy isn't a tub of juicy poop.....or that he is innocent.

I just see so many more things of significance that should require more attention, but are swept under due to crap like this....ex. Little girl gets head cut off and found in woods in KC....big news for a week and now nothing...

starving people, disease, missing children, etc......murderers, rapists, theifs etc....and these people are making a big deal over a friggin ankle biter.

If the guy threw my dog into traffic or my mom's i guess....I'd have dealt with it instead of calling down the Peta whackos.....I think 3 years in prison for killing anything non human is rediculous...

I hate to see anyone starve animals etc....and have given hay to starving horses and cows myself because the owner didn't...i think they should be taken away....but not 3 years in prison....save that spot for some child molester to recover after his public castration.

The next thing you know, the ASPCA or PETA will be trying to prosecute exterminators!

Iowanian, that much I agree with. I think there are more important stories.

However, like Big Daddy said, I don't believe the dog bit him, there were witnesses that he threw it into traffic and the guy has a bad rap sheet, which is why he gets the three years. If he didn't have a history, it would be different...

The woman did rear-end him. He should have dealt with it like someone other than a violent bastard who decided to throw her dog into traffic. Maybe, I don't know, wait for the police and let them handle it. She needs to answer for what she did, as well, but that doesn't excuse, IMHO, his actions...

Maybe I came off a little overzealous in my last post. Okay, definitely I came off a lot overzealous, but there is method to my madness.

Calling out the PETA wackos on Oprah I'd never have done, though...

Okay ... I could've been wrong. I didn't have time to read the article word for word due to big brother ... just got the tidbits (my fault. I apologize for my hasste).

I was under the impression that the dog was half out of the car and the guy just reacted to getting bit by throwing the dog away from him, not into traffic. If he did toss the pup into oncoming cars then he should be punished in some way. BUT the owner should also be held responsible for not controlling her dog. But 3 years in prison for the guy???? That's a bit steep, IMO.

And I'll tell you why: Rapists, robbers and thugs regularly get off without any jail time. If this guy goes to the slammer for this while the guy who raped someone is put on probation it is a very sad day in America.

And another thing about this bothers me: They can raise $120,000 for a dog, but what about the little girl here in KC that was decapitated? Where is the huge reward to find her killer?

I, too, consider my dogs part of my family. Hell, I even call them my "kids." If they were to bite someone I'd be more upset at the person than the dog, because most (but not all) dogs bite for one reason: fear. I'd also be upset at myself because, as an owner, it is my responsibility to control my dog.

In this case, both parties are at fault IMO.

Each of us is responsible for the reasonably forseeable consequences of our actions. There was absolutely no reason for the young hothead to even have his limbs anywhere within biting range of a dog that tiny nor for him to be behaving like a hysterical little biotch. If he really did get bit, then that only underscores what kind of overreacting loser he is. He then takes the pooch out of the car--which means he REACHED INTO the car to grab the very same dog that supposedly had wounded his punkass--and throws it out into traffic, something that every and any normal person knows is a very dangerous place for a dog to be, especially in airport traffic that apparently was so distracted that even big biotches in SUV were vulnerable, let alone tiny biotches shorter than every tire on that road.

He sounds guilty to me if that's the best his defense attorney can come up with for an opening statement. 3 years sounds like a short amount of time for him to be locked up, too, for his behavior--which, even without killing the dog, was worth at least a month or two in the lockup, as young men do not need to act like that around any woman who accidentally dings their trucks. A lot of dogs are sold for more than $300 each--and that is when they are puppies and before the buyers have established a bond with them--you can't destroy other people's expensive property like that and think you're not going to do some time.

Pets have respect.

At least in the US...Pet Cemetarys? If you have a falling out with a roomie, whatever, the cops enforce that 1, you get your clothes, and 2, your pet. Pets are "children" for many people. I would bet money that dog was in her LAP. I think that should be against the law. Period.

Sounds to me like a classic case of road rage that went over the line.

I posted an article on this the other day. This story has been in the news in California since it happened. This guy should have not reached into her vehicle and grabbed the dog. This guy can't be believed in his statements. I believe the witnesses that I have seen on the news who say he threw the dog into oncoming traffic. He fled the scene immediately afterward. I do not believe that the dog bit him.

I believe that he should get the full three years for actions. People who commit this type of crime start with a defenseless animal and progress to children. The next time it could be someone's child he throws into oncoming traffic.
