So what are the point totals for different rep statements.
For instance to get to Claythan's legendary status what is the total, also say what is the level where you become Kyle?

I keep thinking about revamping the system (since nearly every user who's been here for more than a year or two is an "icon"), but I'm not funny enough to do it right. Maybe I'll eventually get around to finding someone to mess with it.
So how long before Claythan hits the lowest?

Why would you do that? He has done nothing but antagonize people, and the people gave him bad rep. Who gives a shit if he gets better or not he is a douche.

Oh, he's still well into the red, so don't worry about that. However, if 20 or so of our most powerful rep givers decided to give him positive rep, he'd start approaching the green. I see a glimmer of potential that he could end up being less than a douchebag, so I figured I'd make it remotely possible that his rep could be repaired.

To put it into perspective, it would take approximately 250 positive reps from our most powerful rep givers to draw him out of the red as it was before. He took a pretty good beating!

If Ari's rep can be restored, why not Gochiefs? If amnesty can be granted to that dickbag, it seems only fair to give Clayton a pass as well.

The easy answer is that I was around when Ari's rep got sent to the basement, so I had a pretty good idea where it should have been. I'm more of a fan of temporary punishment in hopes that people learn their lesson than permanent punishment (i.e. forever doomed to wear the mark of shame that is a full red bar). After Ari had been punished for a month or so, I offered to put it back.

GoChiefs was bottomed out long before I became a mod around here. There's no log of changes to rep in the CP, so if I were to put GoChiefs back in the green, I'd have no idea how many points to give him.

That being said, he and I get along pretty well, so if it were ever that important to him, I'd probably put him back up in at least the "icon" level. I think he's come to enjoy the red dots to a certain extent, though.

Couldn't you just keep the same comments and assess different point values to them?

I could, but I'm afraid that all the "icons" will feel like they've been demoted or something. We're a whiny bunch around these parts.

I'm thinking I'll just have someone add a bunch of new categories for the 50k to 500k range and keep the rest the way it is. That, plus maybe a little formula tweaking to keep people moving up (or down) so quickly.
