Receiver Recomendations

I inherited a surround sound system from my uncle after he passed this winter (Chiefs season ticket holder for 8 years) and I am looking to upgrade the receiver and wanted some recomendations. I don't have many components, just need to hook up satelite box, 360, and PS3 to my tv. I'm looking for HDMI switching, although it doesn't need to be 1080p (my tv only has 720p). Any suggestions (models, brands, places to buy from) are appreciated.

Another vote for Onkyo...

Mrs. Gaz & I have [2] Onkyo receivers [Living Room & Bedroom] & have been very happy with both. We auditioned a ton of receivers [thank you to the very tolerant Ultimate Electronics folks who paired receiver X with speaker Y ad nauseum until we made our decision].

Onkyo truly rocks.

Your mileage may vary...

So the consensus seems to be Onkyo is the best bang for my buck...any particular models? Or just get the one with the connectivity I need with a little bit of room for expansion? How long do these things typically last?

I went with a Mirage S12. I was originally going to go with an SVS PB10, but when I was able to grab the S12 on clearance at Vanns for $399 (originally $800), it was tough to pass up.

From the reviews, it was compared to the Hsu VTF-3 Mk II, which was right at $700 at the time.

For anyone looking now, I would have a tough time not recommending either Hsu of SVS unless you happen to come across a deal comparable to the one I found on the Mirage.

The Klipsch is the RW 12D. I was also considering HSU and Velodyne. Am real happy with the Klipsch. Need to upgrade the receiver someday. Short on cash right now though.

Has anybody ever bought new electronics on EBay? Experiences?

Edit: Nice price on the Mirage.

I went with the Infinity PS 28. It's kind of small, but I got it for $100 off eBay, and living in an apartment next year, I really can't have a ton of bass going all the time. This is my first electronics experience on eBay, I'll let you know how it goes. I don't imagine there will be any problems, but compare the item you're looking at to the retail price. If the difference isn't worth the risk to you, then pass and get it from a store. Also, be patient. I tried for about two weeks before I got my sub at a price I was willing to pay. And as always, check out the feedback of the seller, return policy, etc.

I never met him (on the net or in life)... so I decided to search out some of his posts to see what he was like... your bumped thread on Browning gave me the idea... this seems like some strange "last words" to go out on.
