If we do choose to hire a Lame Duck HC for the year to wait out (whatever) guy we really want I think Gailey is an excellent choice.
And thank all saints and candles I've prayed to in the past week to banish Herm and replace him with a visionary staff...

I talked to Bill Cowher tonight
JBSDNUT red and gold team 725 posts this site Send Private Message Posted: Yesterday 9:27 PM I talked to Bill Cowher tonight -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He was at the Wake Forest-Duke basketball game in Winston-Salem tonight. *Wake won 70-68!!! As the game ended, he walked in front of me, and I asked him to please help the Chiefs out... he replied with an "we'll see buddy...we'll see..." and went on his way. I put my word in. JBSDNUT red and gold team 725 posts this site Send Private Message Posted: Yesterday 9:35 PM RE: I talked to Bill Cowher tonight -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It really is true...I intern at the games and he was getting an escort through the tunnel because he was being mobbed everywhere. (They all want him to coach the Panthers here) I saw an oppurtunity and took it. Nice guy, wasn't sure how he would handle it. My school consistantly plays against his daughters in sporting events...so we often see him at my schools home gaes anyways. this was from WPI...so take it for what it was worth |

Why would Gailey agree to be head coach for a year then get fired as head coach then agree to be the O.C. for the new coach?

It would be great if this happened. It would also piss me off at teh same time!!!! I mean cowher is my first choice for us BUT if he wants to sit back and is ok with wasting a year and maybe even hurting the Chiefs because he doesn't want to coach this year then maybe it would be best if we looked else where.
That being said I think Gailey WOULD go for this IF it was the plan all along. Instead of making him HC without him knowing Cowher will take over next year. Plus I don't see anyone taking just a 1 year contract unless they have been told Cowher will be HC in 2010 before hand. But again I would think Pioli would of come out and already made Gailey HC if this was going to happen, but maybe Pioli is still in talks with Cowher and Gailey is his backup? |

I can see Cower taking over a team with a defense like what they have AND he would be close to home. |

1. He would made a load of $$$$ 2. He'd get to work with Cowher in 1 year and keep making a load of $$$ as an OC. 3. The alternative would be to be the OC for Haley this year and into the future for less $$. If the Chiefs want to make a huge splash and land a coach as good as Cowher than this outside the norm thinking is the way it will have to happen. He is pretty adamant that he does not want to coach next season. |

Because that conveniently fits this system of reasoning.
