I'll probably get neg repped for this or something, but I don't think our defense is anywhere close to worst in the league. But combined with our offense putting them on the field all day long, it's pretty easy for them to wind up ranked so low.

While I still think the defense is bad, you can actually see flashes of at least some positive steps, unlike years past.

If not for two plays. (the trick pass by Collins, and the huge 78 yard run by Portis.) They'd have had a fantastic day.

And yes, I do realize that you can't just take those plays out. They count.

FWIW, our offense didn't leave them on the field too long at all, vs. Washington. KC dominated the TOP.

We were 2.5 minutes behind the Giants.

Held a 2:38 advantage against Dallas.

I'm not really talking about TOP when the game is over...I'm pretty sure the Giants had like a 10 minute advantage by halftime. Anyway, Baltimore and NY is my basic example....and Dallas....we just got roasted against Philly.

I saw flashes of a good defense.

Hali, IMO, has done pretty well at OLB. We need an ILB, NT and a S and I believe that will turn the corner on the defense.

The upcoming draft will be the determining factor as to where we go from here, IMHO.

The Chiefs need better talent at the three other LB spots not filled by Hali, and a good safety.

I think Ron Edwards can play the NT position. Can there be an upgrade? Sure.

But, if I had to list the areas of deficiency, I go safety first, then both ILB spots, then Vrabel, and finally, Ron Edwards.

The Chiefs really need someone opposite Hali that can put pressure on the QB, and Vrabel is just a little too old to do it any more.
