Music Reaper's Top 10, Nay, Top 25 Albums of 2009. - Page 2

For years I've posted my 10 favorite albums of the year on this very subforum. 2009 was such a strong year in music that I thought I'd expand my list by 15 entries. Plus, I'll be adding YouTube embeds to a good song (not necessarily representative) from each album. So bear with me as I add each entry. Character limits and all.

They don't have the best harsh vocals. But they aren't so bad that I can't tolerate them.

I liked it but didn't love it. I like the idea better than the execution. You've got a rock band in the mix and everything is all mid-tempo? Its in the group of good albums that didn't make my top 25.

I love Muse album but the new album was kinda bad I thought; Self-parody. To be honest, I haven't heard the Them Crooked Vultures album in full but the tracks I've heard weren't exciting to me. I never bothered to checkout that Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix thing because it looks annoying. I did listen to Grizzly Bear's latest album like three times and couldn't for the life of me figure out why it was supposed to be good.

I think Lady Gaga is the only example of what people in the 60s thought people in 2010 would look like.

Never heard of Chali 2na before now. I didn't think that song you posted was great, but I've never heard a rapper w/ a baritone voice before. Thats pretty cool.

The beat and the hook weren't great but it was a good example of Chali 2na's typical flow on the verses. D/l the whole album and see if you like it.

OK, I went and listened to the Them Crooked Vultures album in full. I liked it fine enough but it wouldn't make my top 40 of the year, let alone my top 25.

Duffy's "Warwick Avenue" and Adele's "Chasing Pavements" were solid songs. I know that is 2008, but I'm a little behind.

Her music isn't good. This coming from someone who listens to a lot of Beyonce, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, etc.

EDIT: Her music isn't good recently. She's had some genuinely fantastic pop songs in her career, most notably "Toxic."

Taylor Swift is the better of the two because Taylor writes her own songs and plays an instrument. Neither have songs of much musical merit, though.
