Star Wars revisited trailers
Basically this guy spent countless hours improving and tricking out the original trilogy. Pretty impressive. He's got skills. Some of his special effects shots should make Lucas ashamed of himself. The color correction alone should embarrass the original filmmakers.
Don't know when he's going to come out with a trailer for his Jedi revisit. Eye candy: Best fix by far: Quote:

I would have given anything for Lucas to NOT have directed the prequels.

I didn't mind the direction (it wasn't great to be sure), but I wish he'd have cast Anakin better (or indeed, directed Hayden better). The Anakin they have in the Clone Wars cartoons is a far superior rendition than the one they have in the movies.

The OT cast confirmed it. He's a joke. That's why otherwise decent-to-outstanding actors like Hayden Christensen, Natalie Portman, Samuel L. Jackson and Ian McDiarmid all had moments of utterly embarrassing peformance throughout the prequels. Lucas isn't really concerned with getting performances right. He wants to do everything as quickly as possible. That's why you get awful, horrible shit like Mark Hamill yelling "CARRIE!" to Princess Leia at the end of Star Wars, a gaffe which never came close to being repeated on Episodes V and VI. Why? Lucas didn't direct them.

I didn't catch that either.
I'm hoping that they someday do Shadows of the Empire using the Clone Wars animation.

It is most assuredly in the 2004 DVDs. Just another example of George not giving a shit.

I hate to think what Lucas will do for the Bluray release. Probably just transfer the DVD copies to it.

Do you know a ****ING THING about filmmaking or Post Production? IF Mark Hammill had yelled "Carrie" on set (which he DID NOT), it would have been easily fixed in ADR. And if it HAD been missed in 1976 (which it wasn't), it would have been fixed in subsequent release. |

Christ, there's a clip where Obi-Wan's lightsaber appears to "fizzle out" because of shitty special effects + camera angle. They could have easily fixed it with CGI, but did they? No. Why? Same reason George gave us pink lightsabers. He's become a buffoon as he has aged, more concerned with pushing a product than making sure it's actually quality.

I want to know why the hell he put young anakin in with old obiwan and old yoda at the end of RotJ. That didn't make a lick of sense. Yeah, yeah, I know people will say it was because anakin died when he became Vader. BS he was always anakin otherwise he could never have been turned back against the emperor.
As far as all the production flaws go, and there were many of them in the original New Hope, I could live with them. But anyone who says Lucas didn't half ass it is fooling themselves. The prequels proved he half asses it as a director.

I think it's extremely unfair to judge Star Wars' production quality, editing, etc....based upon the technologies that are available today.
To think that Star Wars was anything but "a giant leap forward" in terms of special effects...and what could be done with miniatures and cameras....is insane. All I know is...when I was 8 (I had to wait nearly a year to see it since it seemed to sell out almost nightly for a year at Glenwood theater in OP)....I didnt give a damn about Lucas' directing. That said, Empire is probably my favorite. But it's time to let go of the Lucas hate....we're not 8 years old anymore....and no prequel or future sequel of the franchise is ever going to live up to what we experienced as kids. Let's appreciate the work of art for what it was (groundbreaking and created an international phenomenon with merchandising, etc.). That said - he owes us all big time for Indy 4!
