With Demaurice Smith leading the players union, this will get ugly and the players won't budge at all. Smith has been associated with Obama, The Unions and Chicago politics for quite some time and I assure you the "White NFL Slave Owner's Card" will played at all costs especially since the "owners" still make $$ if there is a strike.
Demaurice will "Alinskyize"(Demonize whether true or not) the Owners at every turn in this process. Just depends on how much of a "spine" the owners have in taking all this bad press. I say they will not put up much of a fight because the NFL product is just waaaaaaaaaaaay to big to "F" with all the $$ to be made. |

Unlike blue collar workers who weld for a living making FAR less money than former NFL scrubs playing in various arena or Canadian leagues. I can see certain players making the big bucks. But, the rookie scale needs to be the highest priority in the new CCA. How the hell does drafting high help a struggling franchise when there are so damn many busts making money that proven franchise players make? They need to get the rookie scale dropped WAY down and make them prove they are top tier NFL players before getting paid like one. In turn, they can use this same cash and assist retired NFL players with medical needs.

Uh the players union is fine with a rookie payscale, they've gone so far as to propose one. They just wanted it where that money went into the cap for current players and they wanted money put into a fund for retired players...the owners said no.

They say the world will end Dec. 2012. I concur that if there is a lock out the world will end Sept. 2011.
