Miller also doesn't fit the Patriots OLB mold either.
I like Miller but I just don't see him as fit for the Chiefs. |

Seems to fill the needs of the Chiefs.

Cushing and Mario Williams are going to be their outside backers.

Like it a lot, other than the Stanzi pick.
And I'd find a slot to take Owen Marecic out of Stanford at some point late. Dude's definitely a Pioli kind of player. |

He would fit in well in a Wade Phillips scheme, but New England's scheme has always utilized bigger, stronger 3-4 OLB's, who can set the edge in the run game and two-gap off the edge if needed. That's not Miller's game. |

Here’s my attempt to improve the Chiefs…
First of all sign WR Steve Breaston Arizona Cardinals to be the 2nd WR. My second choice is James Jones from Green Bay Packers. Heck sign them both. Release Chris Chambers. Bring back NT Ron Edwards, DE Shawn Smith, LB Tamba Hali, Casey Wiegmann, and DE Wallace Gilberry. Sign free Agent TE – Zach Miller OAK, Kevin Boss NYG or Bo Scaife TEN. Need someone to team with Tony Moeaki and teach him. Sign QB Marc Bulger BAL or Drew Stanton DET. Brodie Croyle should not be brought back. Originally I wanted to go outside linebacker for the 1st pick but I’ve had a change of heart. OT Anthony Castonzo Boston College,6’7”, 308 lbs, team captain , biochemistry major, and Rhodes Scholarship nominee. Can play right tackle for the Chiefs but has started at left tackle for two seasons at BC. The Chiefs would improve their offensive line for years to come with this move. Has started 54 consecutive games for BC which says a lot for his ability and his durability. I don’t know that an offensive lineman is the Chiefs greatest need but if Anthony is still there when the Chiefs pick at 21st, I don’t see how they pass him up. Several draft sites have him going in the bottom of the 1st round. Again I don’t think the Chiefs have to draft a OT early, it’s the fact that Anthony Castonzo is too valuable to let slide by. LB Greg Jones Michigan State, team captain for two seasons, outstanding leader and can play linebacker. He will drop into the 2nd round because of his size of 6’1” and 228 lbs and his speed won’t dazzle but he could really improve the Chiefs defense. Starts in place of Jovan Belcher. NT Sione Fua Stanford, 6’ 2’, 306 lbs and Stanford team captain. Stanford scholar sat out 2007 season so he could do his Mormon mission. 3rd round pick. Will rotate with Ron Edwards at NT for his first year. Center Jake Kirkpatrick, 6’3”, 305 lb, TCU team captain. Another scholar athlete but he did not play football until his senior year of high school. He was the Rimington Trophy winner for this year. Called the blocking scheme for the TCU line. 4th round pick. Jake will learn from Casey Wiegmann in his first year. CB – Buster Skrine, 5’10”, 185 lb Tennessee-Chattanooga. Team captain, 4.30 40, 35 inch vertical, and 360 lb bench press. Chiefs use the 1st of their 5th round picks. Buster will take Travis Daniels spot at CB. Can never have enough corners. LB Brian Rolle, Ohio State, team captain. He’s small, 5’11”, 220 lbs but has played middle linebacker at a major football university and he was another team captain. Draft in the 5th round. Chiefs have an extra 5th round pick from Tampa Bay for the Alex Magee trade. Can play LB and special teams. Brian is the cousin of New York Giant safety Antrel Rolle. WR Dane Sanzenbacher Ohio State in 6th round. Need I say it…team captain. This 6th round pick will be from New England for Jarrod Page. They swapped their other 6th in the Alex Magee trade. OLB – Bruce Miller Central Florida, 6’2”, 248 lbs Conference USA Defensive player of the year and team captain. Bruce had 9 sacks. He also had two INTs for touchdowns this year. 7th round pick. Will compete with Andy Studebaker and Cameron Sheffield for Mike Vrabel’s OLB position. ILB – Culmer St. Jean, Wisconsin, 5”11” 234 lb team captain and Academic All Big Ten player. College free agent. So combining a nice free agent signing along with the draft makes the Chiefs much stronger in 2011. |

You didn't draft a single SEC guy. No way in hell Pioli doesn't do that.

Sacc, you pushed a lot of those guys down way beyond where they will go to make that mock look far better than what it will be.

Like I said, Powe had an average season at best while guys like Paea and Fua had monster seasons. As well, Taylor out of Baylor had a very good season and has the size over Powe. Fua is the top 3-4 nose tackle right now IMO and showed a ton. Paea was damn near unblockable and has the strength to play in either a 4-3 or a 3-4. Pettis' lack of timed track speed will cost him on draft day, but he's as good a receiver as their is in the draft. Best hands of anyone available this year. If Austin Collie can drop to the fourth round, it's pretty easy to envision Pettis being there for the third. A number of good centers will be available in the fourth, fifth and sixth round like they are every year. Taylor should be there. Gilbert is huge and strong with a lot of potential, but only has one year of experience at right tackle only. If he went anywhere before the fourth round, I'd be surprised. Quarterbacks like Stanzi or Dalton from TCU or Tolzien from Wisconsin or McElroy from Alabama will be available in the mid rounds. Hell, I'd take a flyer on Kaepernick around there as well - the guy is a winner and reminds me of a skinnier but more athletic Josh Freeman. You're looking for a project type guy that has some tools that just might turn out to be better than what a lot of guys expected, a la Tom Brady or Matt Hasselbeck. One of those types of guys is going to be there. There is always a number of quality fullbacks sitting there in the last couple of rounds. Hughes didn't have the carries and numbers that would push him up any higher than the sixth or seventh round, but he looks a lot like a Kimble Anders type fullback - which is what this type of system (Haley's anyway) warrants. I bet Marecic of Standford and Taua from Nevada will still be there in the sixth and seventh. (Taua or Hughes would really be a nice fit for this offense. Both have substantially better skill sets than our current fullbacks.) Na, I think that most of these guys will be available for the Chiefs when they pick. If Miller is gone, then they can pick up a guy like Costanzo or Carimi and then get a guy like Herzlich in the third or fourth round or a guy like Kenny Rowe of Oregon in the fourth/fifth/sixth. |
