We Are The Most Feared Playoff Team -VC

Most feared? Playoff field includes number of dangerous teams

Vic Carucci: Chiefs

The Chiefs have tremendous potential to keep their feel-good story alive for a few more weeks. Although they've been far stronger at home, they're built well enough to succeed in the postseason. With the NFL's best rushing attack, the Chiefs can utilize a ball-control attack anywhere to help minimize the most explosive opposing offenses and allow their own offense to be effective in the worst conditions Mother Nature can deliver. Matt Cassel is peaking at the perfect time under the guidance of Charlie Weis, who has plenty of experience calling plays in the postseason. Romeo Crennel, also no stranger to this time of year, has put together a playoff-caliber defense. And Todd Haley is smart enough to let his coordinators coach.

I agree. I hope that's an underrated aspect to this game... I think this is the game we unleash Charles. People don't realize if you look back at probably our two biggest games (Indy/@SD)... those were the two games we started Jones, gave him a carry or two... but didn't hesitate to bring in Charles right away and start pounding away. Only problem is that didn't really work, but hopefully it does Sunday.

I would LOVE to see them come out with both JC and DMC in the same backfield and move them both around to gain matchups. We havent seen this a whole lot and it would surely catch them off guard and force them to play on their heels a bit and let us dictate the tempo of the game early on.

I think both can hurt Baltimore on the ground as well and we may as well deactivate Jones for this game, what he brings to the table doesn't benefit us against this specific defense.

Honestly, if Jones starts this game, I'll need to try not to freak out. I respect what Jones has done for this team this year, but he's looked like a 30-something-year-old RB the last several weeks.

We have to do everything possible to win, and that means highlighting (and starting) the best offensive player on the team.

If we come out and feature the same old tired running plays to start this game, that defense is gonna feast on them.

We have to show them something they havent seen before.

Perhaps. But I want to see a lot of Charles, Bowe, and Brokaki. Actually, I think the n00b might be a real difference maker on Sunday.

And we need Cassel's best, obviously. The line was terrible last Sunday, but Cassel wasn't good, either. He needs to rebound and play with a lot of confidence, even if he gets pressured early.

The Ravens are getting a little long in the tooth on defense. I think using our speed is a good strategy. Charles for sure. I'd also like to see McCluster get more carries than he's seen lately. He could really gash the Ravens if we can get him in open space. (It's pretty obvious that he's not the best of targets for Cassel beyond swing passes or screens.)

I still don't care if Jones "starts." I think the whole starter thing is overrated for RB's. Part of that is because if we are effective, we should be running the ball 40 times a game. Or more. We just have to get Charles involved very early... not in the 2nd quarter. I think there are times where Charles has been even more effective because the defense isn't ready for his speed.

I think that this is going to happen. It seemed to me that the Chiefs ran some crap plays and formations just to give the Ravens extra things to prepare for. I suspect Weiss is going to include some new wrinkles that the Ravens haven't seen on film. Let's all pray that he finds his muse.

I'd like to see us throwing the ball on Sunday. They'll prepare for it (meaning Baltimore) but I don't think they'll expect it. Script the first 15 with a focus on passing the ball, get them off balance with the initial drive. Use the pass to open up the run.

As far as Charles and Jones go, get Charles some touches early, but keep rotating Jones in. Basically reverse their roles from during the season. They don't have the speed in the back 7 to keep up with Charles, so he could have a big day.

And I don't know about "most feared" but they were 7-1 at home. Everybody remembers the last game, and I get that.

Now's the time to give them a new last game to remember.

Jets will beat the Colts therefore if the Chiefs beat Baltimore...Pittsburgh here we come!

For the Chiefs to make it to the Super Bowl they would have to run this gauntlet:

Baltimore in Arrowhead
at Pittsburgh
at New England

They will have "EARNED" their way if that happens.

Well if you believe in certain conspiracies: the NFL, CBS, and the majority of the media would LOVE to see 2 big markets from the Northeast play each other. Now if the Chiefs and Jets win two in a row...well then...

I was gonna add TonyMO to my post, but I was like "ahhh **** it"

If Moeaki can demand them to use Reed to cover him, that can be HUGE. We need to find a way to keep them honest and control the early tempo to let Cassel and others get a chance to settle down and play our game.

In reality though, I can see them using him as another linemen to help Barry Richardsons bitch ass from not getting totally owned.

Actually, I could see the Jets going into New England & winning for a little revenge.

Maybe we will get the Jets in Arrowhead!
