I'm from Pennsylvania. So I know all the YINZ jokes etc, but is it true that people outside of our community measure distance by miles rather than time?

We categorize distance by the amount of time it takes to get there.

For example, I'm 2 hours from Pittsburgh and 4 hours from Philli. 20 minutes from an AIDS TREE.

Are we the only people that do that?, or is there some sub knowledge that miles= a certain amount of time?

Lurker debate so feel free to Anti Freeze, HAARP, or whatever.

I do, but it is usually prefaced by the question "HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET THERE?"

No one ever asks "How many miles is it to XXXX?"

If it is a drive that I've made more than once then I decribe the distance in driving time. If I want the milage I google map it. My brain is way too full of other garbage to store all of those distances.

I dumb it down sometimes and say it's five hours to OKC instead of about 270 miles. I like miles much better I can figure the time in my head instantly.

Yeah, the problem with time is that I normally have to assume people drive like my grandmother.
