Not that Haley was going anywhere to begin with but for those of you bandying around the thought that Haley is getting fired at the end of the season... or in Go Athan's case before the next game.

Gruden agrees to five-year extension with ESPN

Gruden has earned two Sports Emmy Award nominations for his work in the "Monday Night Football" booth, where he is joined by play-by-play commentator Mike Tirico and analyst Ron Jaworski.

The 48-year-old Gruden is the winningest coach in Buccaneers history (60-57) and coached the team to victory in Super Bowl XXXVII, where Tampa Bay defeated the Raiders, his former team.

"Jon is a rare individual who has been successful at everything he has done, going from one of the youngest coaches to win a Super Bowl to reinventing himself with this new broadcasting career in his 40s," Gruden's agent, Bob LaMonte, said in the statement.

Doesn't Dungy have a better record than Gruden, W/L wise? I think their article might be wrong. (Dungy is 54-42)

I think they just mean that Gruden has more wins....not a better winning percentage.

ESPN probably pays him a shit load for this to happen. There are going to be coaching vacancy's next year that would probably fit his bill and ESPN wanted to lock him up before that could happen I guess.

Petro was talking about this deal today with regard to who might replace Sparano in Miami when he mercifully gets the axe. Both Petro and his guest from the Miami area seemed to think that Gruden's contract with ESPN would be quickly broken for the right coaching opportunity.

I think we all know that pretty much any big name guy Scott wouldn't hire.

So that includes, Chucky, Fisher, Cowher, etc. None of these guys would come here because they'd want too much control and Scott can't be the only man that way.

No I would expect some lesser assistant.
