This is yet another indictment against the Big XII Conference. KU is a better job in a vacuum, but it happens to be in a flailing, drowning conference.

The guy took a job, if Zenger was slobering all over him and he decided to go elsewhere then I'll be concerned. But don't try to make it out to be the end of the world for KU, just because that's what you want it to be.

I don't think KU fans need to take this personally. Obviously with the very close ties to your AD that we all have been hearing about, if this were the case then he would have considered KU instead of jumping at the Washington State job so fast.

2. If he goes bowling at Wazzu he is a God. If he does it at ku he is still a long second place to basketball.
3. Big 12 instability.
4. PAC is a much weaker conference.
5. Leach doesn't really need big-time recruits to win.
6. Ku just fired a coach after two years. That is a big no no in the eyes of the coaching world.

Doesn't it kinda seem like this is what happened though? All reports where that he was #1 on Zenger's list.

I've been listening to the radio stuff and everyone treats Zenger like he's the AD lovechild that Don Draper and Machiavelli's Prince would have created. I've not seen this much blind faith since Pioli's first couple of weeks. Why? What about his time at Illinois State has convinced everyone that this guy is a mastermind?

I mean he seems qualified enough, but Perkins had a much better resume/reputation coming into Lawrence and that didn't work out so well. Why is it just assumed that this didn't happen because Zenger didn't want it to?

I think the status of the XII may have actually come into play here.
