9 things about todays JAYHAWKS GAME!!!

I've been away from the computer all weekend and watched the game at a friends house. Yep... I could have put this in the game thread. Too bad for the haters I'm sure... "ignore thread" works wonders

Out of respect for blowfish I'll keep my thoughts to 9... one less than his... but thanks for the inspiration George.

I, like many KU fans, went into todays game expecting little from KU based on their up and down play this year and their less-than-confidence-inspiring play in the tourney up to now. Man do I love being proved wrong.

9. Bill Self is the best college basketball coach in America. KU has exactly 0 McDonalds All Americans. Some "experts" picked KU to finish in the middle of the pack in the Big 12 this year. We lost 4 starters from last years team. Now here we are... in the FINAL FOUR in a "down year." I don't know what Bill says to his players in practice or in the locker room but I want him to whisper it in my ear when I'm on my death bed.

8. Rebuilding year huh? It looked that way going in. Besides Thomas Robinson and Tyshawn Taylor we had a lot of question marks this season. OK even WITH Tyshawn Taylor we had question marks. Young guys... bench guys playing a bigger role (Teahen)... Withey.... There were more questions than answers and plenty of room to believe 2011-2012 would truly be that "rebuilding year." That's why we play the games. That's why we hired Bill Self.

7. I love Roy Williams. I hated him like every other KU fan when he left us and quickly went on to win his first title with North Carolina... which he never led us too. I despised him. I wanted him dead after he said "I'll retire at KU" then left for the evil empire. Beating his team in the National semi-finals in '08 en route to our own title took the sting away. Seeing him don the KU logo on his jacket made me "like" him again. Keeping him and his team OUT of the final four this year is so super sweet I don't have words for it... but not because I hate Roy... but because we beat another of the blue bloods and I never expected this. Listening to Roys post game presser I find nothing but love and respect for the guy and thank him for the years he gave us. I also now thank him for leaving.

6. UNC has a hell of a point guard in waiting in White. That guy is going to be trouble for everyone who plays him throughout his collegiate career. What a fantastic job playing like a seasoned vet the last 2 games after averaging 4 minutes a game before Marshalls injury. He's not scared... he's not intimidated at all. He plays like he expects to win and he knows what being the starting point guard for UNC means. It means being a winner and White has it.

5. R8ers may be the classiest oppossing fan I've yet to encounter on ChiefsPlanet. Yeah I know... he's R8ers and he made his mark by being the worst kind of troll. But when he's on his meds ( R8ers) he's a damn decent guy and such a classy fan of UNC that he makes me not hate them nearly as much. Kudo's to you and your team R8ers... great damn game today and great year. I actually like you enough to feel bad that your team lost such a great game. Not tooooo bad though, heh.

4. Elijah Johnson is becoming a man-child before our eyes. I'm sure you other KU fans get a feeling of comfort with the ball in a particular players' hands moreso than others. EJ has moved into the comfort level for me. I can't wait to see him be a real leader as a senior next year.

3. Jeff mother-****ing Withey! How far have YOU come this year my man?! From a guy we all hated seeing on the court basically to a guy we NEED on the court. Dorky white boy is a force... a key to the win... a defensive giant... an offensive weapon. Jeff mother-****ing Withey ladies and gentleman. Do they give an award for most improved player of the year? If they do then name it the Withey award.

2. Thomas man-beast Robinson. We all know you're going NBA after this year and we understand... but we'll miss you. You don't always play to your ability this year but when you do you remind us all why you're a NPOTY candidate. TRob will always be one of my favorite Jayhawks. When he imposes his will there's nothing any other player in CBB can do about it. If somehow you would come back as a senior TROB.................... I can't even imagine it. Good luck my favorite.

1. It's my mother lovin 43rd birthday today... even though I don't see my name listed on todays bdays on here lol. I've often cursed my mother for giving birth to me late during March Madness. It's been a downer date many more times than a celebration where the Jayhawks are concerned. This year my boys gave me a great gift. Between the time spent with my daughter and an unexpected win over UNC and a trip to the FINAL FOUR this has been one of the best birthdays I can remember. And for that... all of you who think this thread is stupid, unneccesary and should have been in the game thread... you can roundly kiss my Jayhawk lovin... FINAL FOUR HEADIN... crimson and blue ass.

ROCK... CHALK... JAY... HAWK... GO KU!!!!

Great post OP, that's better than most crap you read in articles by professionals. I still hate Roy though, the way he left was inexcusable and pussy shit. But so glad he left because it gave us Bill Self who is way better of a game time coach and leader, he may not be as good as a recruiter but he's a way better coach.

I never understood the anger towards Roy. He obviously agonized over the decision, and he pissed off the North Carolina fans when he got there because he put up a bunch of KU memorabilia in his office. He loved coaching at KU, North Carolina is the only job in the world he would have left KU for, and it took them two tries to get him.

And then we wound up with a coach who is younger and better. Thanks for everything, Roy.

If you want to blame someone, blame KU alum Dean Smith. He put the pressure on, and Roy eventually gave in to his mentor and returned to the place where he learned how to coach.

Believe me I blame Dean "the KU grad" Smith too. I blamed Roy for lying to the media... "I'll retire at KU." Then he didn't.

My hate for Roy is well past over now. He was obviously torn and went home. Now I'm glad. Self is better.

Stilman White; the point guard, is going on a 2 year Mormon mission after the season. He most likely will never play for UNC again.

I see that it took KU beating UNC in the tourney for everyone to forgive Roy.

If Roy would have won, the venom would have multiplied by a factor of 4.

No big deal, I have always know that Self was a better coach. His Tulsa teams were excellent, and one of them could have won the whole thing but the got absolutely ****ed by the officials against North Carolina in 2000 in the Elite 8.

Yeah, I was pretty angry and disappointed in Roy at the time. Mostly because of him saying he was never leaving and then he ended up leaving. But I got over that and I wish Roy nothing but the best. He was a great coach for KU and gave us a lot of good years of basketball.

But Dean Smith can DIAF! You have to wonder how much of him bugging Roy during the days leading up to that championship game screwed up our preparation and focus.
