This is ****ing ridiculous -- I've been seeing this video popping around facebook today.

The church, conservatives, Republicans, parents and older people... all those groups have ALWAYS hated the "popular music". Before heavy metal it was hard rock. Before that it was psychedelic rock. The Beatles. Elvis Presley. Bill Haley and the Comets. No matter how quaint we now think a band or musical style is, at the time it came out those groups thought it was the end of civilization. If they took half the ****ing energy that they did on this shit and funnelled it towards things they SHOULD be worrying about (starving children, the economy, what their children are ACTUALLY doing, etc.,.), the world would be a better place.

Somebody in this bitch MUST have seen this… when I was I high school I was at an FCA meeting (Fellowship of Christian Athletes).
This guy played songs supposedly backwards. I remember one was Another One Bites The Dust. The line “another one bites the dust-ah” (he made specific mention of the “ah” sound added to the word dust)….this line played backwards was SUPPOSEDLY saying (probably enhanced to say) “sposed to smoke marijuana”.

I went home...fired up a doobie...and listened to some more Queen with renewed interest!.

In their defense, many metal musicians are pretty much acknowledged by anyone that understands music as technical masters of their instruments, much in the same way that jazz players are. You might not like the music, but a lot of these guys are very "skilled" musicians.

The rest, though...awesome. I didn't even noticed the "pacific purpose."

yeah I totally agree! actually, I play a little myself, so I'm more than aware of the skill it takes.....although I certainly don't have much/enough. I can strum some tunes and pick a few. very valid point.

IMO you take some dudes with skill and it seems kinda wasted on writing songs of this nature. to each his own. if I dig a song, I really don't care what category it is, country or rock or alternative etc. (I favor the blues myself...SRV is badass!) if it's good, I dig it. most of the time I just don't dig the truly harcore metal stuff.

Metallica....love 'em. just love 'em.
