American Royal BBQ

Anyone going to the giant party disguised as a BBQ contest? Might be a little cool this year.

Some big-time competitors, as always.

Johnny Trigg. He will be inducted into the BBQ Hall of Fame.

Myron Mixon.

Chris Lilly of Big Bob Gibson's BBQ:

And last but not least, Guy Fieri:

I don't think he competed much, if at all. He was busy shooting Pitmasters. I believe he's also promoting a new book.

The episode where they had to cook cheek was hilarious.

It appears that Mixon is a control freak. "It's my way or you're a dumbass!" He could have a team that could compete when he's not available, but no one would want to work with him (my opinion). Hell, Guy Fieri probably has a much tougher schedule than Mixon and his team is in the invitational.

Yeah, I get all that. I'm probably taking "pitmaster' too literally.

There was a guy on there that called himself the Carolina Rib King. That's probably much more accurate than "pitmaster".

The guys that are real, all-around pitmasters are more likely to be working in a kitchen somewhere manning a pit all day, every day.

I actually liked the Rib King, he's the kind of guy I like to see when I walk in somewhere, plus I think he was the one that looked at that tri-tip like it was ****ing tripe. Plus, I don't think "pitmasters" are agave nectaring the **** out of their meat.

Henry Ford (yes, that one) is being inducted in the the hall of fame too. Why? He invented the charcoal briquette.
