I thought we had it because we have 24-7 lights. Is there some other reason? My assumption was that we did it for energy savings so it's light when people are sitting around doing playstation and dancing to hi-fis and listening to the Green Hornet on the radio machine.

Seems back before the world ran 24-7, they did it to allow for more daylight later in the day for people to be able to work later, or something like that. But nowadays, when it gets dark, the lights go on. When it's light out, the lights go off. Not saving any electricity that I can think of. It's an outdated idea as far as I can tell.

So why fall back? Why shouldn't we always be DST? The biggest reason for falling back that I heard is so kids aren't waiting at bus stops in the dark, which is stupid.

It's been proven that it doesn't save power and it's a hazard to people that are groggy because their internal clocks haven't caught up yet. We still do it because of inertia.
