NFL owner pissed, puts oranization on notice...
Okay Clark, here's a guy twice your age and kicking ass. Please pay attention:
Bud Adams puts entire Titans organization on notice The Titans won nine of 16 games in 2011. Through nine games in 2012, they’ve already lost six. Their most recent loss was the ugliest, a 51-20 Music City shellacking at the hands of the Bears. Owner Bud Adams isn’t happy. After the game, he gave the organization the verbal equivalent of a double-barreled middle finger. “In my 50 years of owning an NFL franchise, I am at a loss to recall a regular season home game that was such a disappointment for myself, and fans of the Titans,’’ Adams told Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. “We were grossly outcoached and outplayed from start to finish today. “At this time, all aspects of the organization will be closely evaluated, including front office, coaches and players over the next seven games. If performance and competitiveness does not improve, I will look at all alternatives to get back to having the Titans become a playoff and championship football team.” That’s not good for anyone in the organization, especially coach Mike Munchak, G.M. Ruston Webster, and team president Mike Reinfeldt. Munchak seems to realize that his seat is suddenly hot. “If a team underperforms, I’m the first guy you should look at for that, not anybody else, not assistant coaches, it starts with me,” Munchak said. “If we don’t finish this season the way it should, then what needs to happen will happen. Sure it starts with me, I’m the head coach. . . . “We’re getting ahead of ourselves here — we’ve got seven games to play, so we’ll worry about what it means when we see how we finish up. We didn’t coach well, we didn’t play well and obviously we got beat by a very good football team today.” Adams turns 90 on January 3. Which could make him more antsy to make changes once the season ends on December 30. As Munchak said, seven games remain. But if the Titans play like they played on Sunday, they won’t be winning many (or any) more. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...ion-on-notice/ |

Nevermind the fact that this regime has only been put in place for less than 2 years by an owner who ran a successful coach out of town to install the guys he's now saying may be failures. Great hire! |

Yeah, I'm not sure if he'll ever win with the Rams. I'm not a huge Bradford fan. He's definitely talented but I'm not sure if he'll get to Eli Manning good, but there's still time. I don't think Fisher's the single greatest coach of all time but he's almost literally never fielded a team without a top 10 pick at QB, a tough running game and defense, barring injury.

And I agree there were other issues, but how you can pin all that on Fisher and ignore the major issues Fisher had to overcome is being completely disingenuous. No mention of how they got forced into all kinds of salary cap issues, or the fact he had to draft a QB he didn't want. And yet after a few down years still rebuilt the team and got them back to the playoffs. |

I don't think Fisher is God's gift to coaching, but out of Adams, Floyd Reese, and Fisher... if you made me take one of them on the Chiefs, I'd probably pick Fisher 100 times out of 100. I think he is easily the most competent one of the bunch.
Although Floyd Reese is a consultant for the Patriots now. Maybe we should hire him to be GM. |

Pioli thinks Bud Adams' expectations are too high.

My point is that the owner's recent public comments were prudent and apt. They were tempered and direct. His comments served a purpose. It put his employees on notice in a professional way while also letting the consumers who purchase his product know that he was working to put a better product on the field. Smart business that keeps customers interested in the product.

That's a huge leap and enough fuzzy logic to knit yourself a pair of Jeff Fisher boxers.

His employees know that. If they truly don't think their jobs are on the line after the way they played today, they are delusional. Saying it in the press makes absolutely no difference, at all. It's not like he can't walk down to the locker room and tell the coaches this has to end. It's certainly his choice to say it in the press... but acting like the front office and coaching staff is in more danger now than if he hadn't said it publicly is not true. And if it is, it shouldn't be.
Some people don't air their dirty laundry in public. Some do, everyone has their own approach. Clark Hunt doesn't strike me as the type to do that. If he whacks Pioli at the end of the year, it won't matter what he says now. All this statement does is get the fans whipped up that their owner supposedly "cares." Look at this thread for no further proof. But granted, I may be giving Clark Hunt way too much credit in thinking that even as a businessman, he doesn't like seeing his name slung through the mud like this. We are going to find out here in about 8 weeks. What he says in the press between now and then isn't going to make a lick of difference, as long as the deed is done. Even if he doesn't fire Pioli, what he says doesn't matter. Just do it. Talk is cheap. |
