Because it's always a good idea to work with people you can't get along with. See: Pioli and Haley.

Romeo was the only "HC" who would aquiesce to Matt ****ing Cassel being the unquestioned starter of a football team.

It was widely speculated well before the Cardinals hire that Arians wanted Bowles no matter what team he went to. Regardless of what team he went to, he would have pushed for the DC to be replaced with Bowles.

He wouldn't have to push. It's his staff.

On getting rid of Ray Horton:
Quote:
"It needed to be a football team that was directed by me. And any time there's carry over, you don't want guys being able to go somewhere else to voice their opinion," Arians continued. "I didn't want to put Ray in the situation, that's not fair to him. If a guy's got a gripe or concern, come to me and that's just the way we're going to do business."

Quote:
"I will have an offensive coordinator but I will call the plays," Arians said. "Until I can find someone who's going to do it better than me. I haven't found him yet."

Why are we applauding this? I hate the idea of head coaches also being coordinators (as much as I've defended Haley, this is a decision I thought was dumb from the top-down).

VARSITY
You hire a coach, he should get to pick his staff. It's on him. He should live or die in his career with the coaches of his choosing.

Yet another douchebag trying to feel vindicated. Lets go ahead and wait for the next season to start before passing any negative judgement.

And it's funny that he says as much as he's defended Haley he thought the decision to call the plays was dumb from the top down.

Are you blaming someone other than Haley for that?

No. Haley gets most of the blame for that. It was his call and it was a dumb one. But this is also one of those areas where ***** should have known better than to allow a young guy like Haley have that much responsibility. Funny that ***** was pushy about making stupid decisions, but not pushy enough about making the right decisions when needed.
